The roar of the crowd, the gleam of hooves on sunlit grounds, and the thrill of top-tier show jumping have become a summer hallmark at London’s Royal Hospital Chelsea. This year, fans received reassurance that the spectacle they cherish is here to stay: the Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) has confirmed a multi-year extension, securing its London stage at the historic venue through 2037.
Since its move to Royal Hospital Chelsea in 2017, the London leg of the LGCT has grown into one of the most prestigious stops on the international show jumping calendar. Against the majestic backdrop of Sir Christopher Wren’s architecture and alongside the famed Chelsea Flower Show, the event has fused sport, culture, and tradition in a way few other sporting events manage.
In 2025, over 13,000 spectators gathered to witness the finest equestrian athletes compete, underscoring the rapid rise in popularity of the London stage. Riders, owners, and fans alike are drawn not only to the competitive thrill but to the unique atmosphere shaped in part by the Chelsea Pensioners, whose presence lends a sense of heritage and pride to every competition.
Jan Tops, President and Founder of Global Champions, remarked, “London has become one of the most cherished stages on our calendar. The setting is spectacular, the fans are passionate, and the involvement of the Chelsea Pensioners makes this event truly unique. We look forward to building on this success through to 2037.”
General Sir Adrian Bradshaw, Governor of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, added, “Extending our agreement demonstrates our valued partnership and our commitment to preserving both the heritage of our estate and a strong community for the Chelsea Pensioners. We are proud to host events of the highest calibre that honour our traditions.”
Beyond the sport, the LGCT of London has significant economic and cultural impact. Hotels, restaurants, transport providers, and local businesses all benefit from the influx of visitors, while spectators enjoy a festival-like atmosphere where international equestrian excellence meets London’s vibrant cultural scene.
With the future now secured, the Longines Global Champions Tour is poised to continue delivering unforgettable sporting theatre and memorable fan experiences for years to come, cementing its place as a highlight of the London social and sporting calendar. The 2026 edition is already set for 7–9 August 2026 at Royal Hospital Chelsea.
