Leicester Racecourse Gears Up for Saturday’s Seven-Race Card

The popular Midlands venue, Leicester Racecourse, will stage a competitive seven-race Flat meeting on Saturday, 4 July, with the opening race scheduled for 2:11pm and the final contest due off at 5:35pm. The afternoon’s programme will feature juvenile, novice and handicap races across sprint and middle-distance trips, with prize money ranging from £6,000 to £12,000. A blend of emerging talent and experienced campaigners will ensure another varied day of British Flat racing.

Getting the afternoon under way, the Selling Stakes (Class 3) will be contested at 2:11pm over 6 furlongs for two-year-olds. The opening race will carry prize money of £12,000 and is expected to feature 11 runners, including Beach Ahead, Champagne Charlee, Dreamlover, Dream On Kent, Little Mester and South West, providing an early opportunity for several promising juveniles.

Attention will then turn to the Novice Stakes (Class 4) at 2:46pm, a 6-furlong contest for three-year-olds and upwards worth £10,000. The seven-runner field will include Anyasi, Bucklow Hill, Two Commanders, Retro Rocket, Baby G, Material Girl and Red Legs, with lightly raced performers set to continue their education.

The middle part of the card will feature the Handicap Stakes (Class 6) at 3:20pm over 1 mile and 2 furlongs. Open to three-year-olds and upwards, the £6,000 contest will bring together Kameel, Hachiman, Charencey, Beryl’s Girl, City Escape and Bel Air Flyer in what will be one of the afternoon’s competitive middle-distance handicaps.

Sprint specialists will take centre stage in the Fillies’ Handicap Stakes (Class 5) at 3:56pm. Run over 6 furlongs for fillies and mares aged three years and upwards, the £7,000 race will feature Lodge, Dolo’s Star, Carefree Dream, Guernsey Angel, Sayidah Aleen and Q T Pie.

One of the afternoon’s notable handicaps will arrive at 4:30pm with the Rutland Handicap Stakes (Class 4) over 7 furlongs for three-year-olds. Competing for £10,000, the field will include Mr Writer, Galileo Island, Cashbox, Loquella, Pints In Peace, Frantic and Eduardo Calderon, promising another closely matched contest.

As the meeting progresses towards its closing stages, the Confined Handicap Stakes (Class 6) will be run at 5:05pm over 1 mile and 53 yards for three-year-olds and upwards. The £6,000 event will include Palmarian, My Ambition, Aspire To Glory, Little Ted, Aurelune and Sovereign Bright among the nine declared runners.

Bringing the Leicester programme to its conclusion, the Handicap Stakes (Class 6) will take place at 5:35pm over 6 furlongs. The closing £6,000 sprint will feature Moonhall Lass, Elvetham, Due Date, Melissa Honey, Great Success, Bridget’s Baby and Rianka, concluding a well-balanced afternoon of Flat racing.

Saturday’s fixture will offer a balanced blend of juvenile, novice and handicap races across a range of distances. Competitive fields, valuable prize money and opportunities for both progressive and established horses will make Leicester’s latest summer meeting another noteworthy fixture on the British Flat racing calendar.
