Trainer David O’Meara is optimistic about Estrange’s next big test as she lines up for the prestigious bet365 Lancashire Oaks at Haydock Park this Saturday. The rapidly improving filly, owned by Cheveley Park Stud, is back at the scene of her impressive Group Three victory last month, where she effortlessly claimed the Lester Piggott Fillies’ Stakes on her first try over a mile and a half.

Following that standout performance, her connections weighed up a potential Group One debut at the Pretty Polly Stakes in Ireland. However, with conditions there favouring quick ground, the team opted to stay closer to home, targeting Haydock Park once again—a decision O’Meara feels suits the filly perfectly.

Estrange has shown exceptional progress since returning to the track, with O’Meara even suggesting she’s developing at a sharper rate than some of his past elite performers, such as Amazing Maria, G Force, Lord Glitters, and Mondialiste.

Reflecting on her last run, O’Meara recalled how smoothly she handled the race, barely exerting herself as she cruised to victory under jockey Danny Tudhope. The ease of that win provided not just excitement but also a sense of relief, confirming the filly’s potential and the belief her team had in her.

Estrange first caught attention with her debut victory at Goodwood last August, and despite facing tough luck in subsequent races—particularly a rough Listed contest at Yarmouth—her class was undeniable. A late-season triumph at Doncaster further showcased her staying power, highlighting her ability to finish strongly over extended distances.

O’Meara credits Cheveley Park Stud for their patience, allowing Estrange to mature and return for her four-year-old campaign looking stronger than ever. With her latest performance reaffirming expectations, all eyes will be on her as she takes another step up in class at Haydock Park.

While the yard has celebrated major international victories, including Group One successes in North America, O’Meara remains grounded. He acknowledges how fortunate they are to have a filly of Estrange’s calibre and is focused on taking each day as it comes, aware of the unpredictability of racing.

The Lancashire Oaks headlines the final day of the Old Newton Cup Festival at Haydock Park, following two days of racing, entertainment, and live music, including a performance by Tom Jones on Friday evening. With a promising field set to contest Saturday’s feature race, including talented entries from Ireland and the UK, Estrange will be aiming to solidify her status as one of the rising stars of the season.
