The sixth and concluding race of the Calcutta Races – Summer Meeting First Day ended on a strong note as Divine Gift captured Race No. 6, The Dare To Dream Handicap, a Class IV contest for horses rated 21–46 (1–26 eligible) run over 2000 metres at 05:00 PM on Thursday, 5th March 2026. Confidently ridden by Suraj Narredu and prepared by Vijay Singh, the winner produced a controlled staying performance for the owners M/s Rapar’s Galloping Stars LLP, bringing the curtain down on the opening day in decisive fashion.

As the Kolkata race results 5 March wrapped up at the historic racecourse, the final staying event proved a fitting climax to an afternoon packed with competitive action and several notable performances across the card.

Divine Gift settled comfortably through the early stages of the 2000-metre journey, with Suraj Narredu content to bide his time while the field found its rhythm. Gradually improving position approaching the final bend, the Vijay Singh-trained runner began to loom large turning for home. Once asked for a serious effort in the straight, Divine Gift lengthened stride impressively, pulling clear in the closing stages to seal the race with authority.

Garth, ridden by A Ashhad Asbar for trainer Aashay Doctor, kept up the chase and finished second after trying to narrow the gap in the straight, while Cascade, partnered by Imran Chisty and trained by Vikash Jaiswal, stayed on resolutely to secure third place as the field battled it out over the demanding trip.

Earlier in the afternoon, the card began at 02:30 PM with The Diabolical Handicap (1200m), where Swift Lady gave jockey Suraj Narredu and trainer Rutherford Alford the first success of the day, finishing ahead of Dubai Prince and Horus The Great. The Toroloco Handicap (1100m) at 03:00 PM saw Superlative, ridden by Darshan N and trained by Shafiq Khan, score for owners Mr Mohammed Shakeel, Mr Rustom E Daroga and Mr Shafiq Khan, with Lavish Girl and Chililady completing the frame.

The Prince Blossom Cup (1100m) at 03:30 PM produced a stylish victory for Cielo, who scored under P. Trevor for trainer Aashay Doctor while carrying the colours of a large ownership partnership led by Mrs Pallavi Sharma and M/s United Investments among others. Princess S finished second while Fifty Shades filled the third spot.

At 04:00 PM, The Aperitivo Cup (1400m) went the way of King Louis, who provided Suraj Narredu with another winner while representing trainer Neil Darashah and owners including Mrs Esha Banerjee and Mr Joydeep Datta Gupta. Charismatic finished second with Abhicandra taking third.

The penultimate race before the finale, The Colombiana Handicap (1600m) at 04:30 PM, saw Xanthe emerge victorious under Hindu Singh for trainer S.S. Attaollahi and owner Mr C Aryama Sundaram, with Booster Shot finishing second and Mindful third.

With Divine Gift’s decisive triumph bringing proceedings to a close, the opening day of the Calcutta Summer Meeting concluded with a blend of dominant rides, competitive finishes, and several standout performances, setting an encouraging tone for the racing days that lie ahead at Kolkata Racecourse.
