The fourth race of the Calcutta Races – Summer Meeting First Day on Thursday, 5 March 2026, saw King Louis deliver a commanding performance to land The Aperitivo Cup, a Class II contest for horses rated 81 and above (61–86 eligible) run over 1400 metres at 4:00 PM.

Ridden confidently by Suraj Narredu and trained by Neil Darashah, the winner carried the silks of Mrs Esha Banerjee, Mr Joydeep Datta Gupta, Mr Jeet Banerjee, Mr Achuthan Siddharth, Mr Sanjay Datta Gupta, Mr Ananda Bose, Mr Sanjay Ginodia & Mr Dipak H Doshi, producing a polished effort to secure the spoils. The result quickly became a talking point for followers tracking the Kolkata race result 5 March, with the winner stamping his authority on the competitive field.

The race unfolded at a lively tempo with several contenders eager to dictate terms early. Settled comfortably in striking position, King Louis travelled strongly throughout the backstretch before Suraj Narredu asked for his effort turning for home. Responding with a smooth burst of acceleration, the Darashah-trained runner quickly asserted control in the final furlong, drawing clear to seal victory in convincing fashion.

Charismatic, ridden by Vinod Shinde for trainer Rutherford Alford, finished second after staying on gamely in the straight, while Abhicandra, partnered by Hindu Singh and trained by Shyam S. Habbu, completed the frame in third after making late progress.

With The Aperitivo Cup decided, attention at the Kolkata track now turns to the next contest on the card, The Colombiana Handicap, scheduled for 4:30 PM, as the afternoon’s racing drama continues to unfold.
