The CALCUTTA RACES, SUMMER MEETING’s eighth day on Friday, 27th March 2026, gathered pace with Race 3, The Surfside Handicap, a Class V contest for horses rated 21–46 (rated 1–26 eligible), run over 1400 metres at 03:30 PM. In what forms a key highlight of the Kolkata race result 27 March narrative, Queen Anula delivered a composed and authoritative performance under R Vaibhav to secure top honours for trainer V Ajith Kumar. Owned by Dr Murali Venkataswamy, the winner showed admirable balance and finishing strength in a competitive field.

The race unfolded at an even tempo, with contenders jostling for early positions before settling into rhythm along the backstretch. Queen Anula was positioned tactically off the pace, conserving energy while tracking the leaders. As the field straightened for home, R Vaibhav angled the mare into clear running, and she responded with a smooth yet decisive acceleration. Inside the final furlong, Queen Anula asserted control, stretching clear with each stride to seal victory in convincing fashion.

Keitaro, ridden by Antony Raj S. and trained by Rutherford Alford, finished a creditable second after staying on steadily in the closing stages. Upper Street, under P. Trevor for trainer Arti Doctor, completed the frame in third, closing late but unable to bridge the gap to the front pair. The margins reflected a well-contested finish despite the winner’s authority.
