The third race of the afternoon at the Calcutta Races Summer Meeting, Fourth Day on Thursday, 12 March 2026, saw MI Arion produce a determined performance to capture The Whomakestherules Handicap Div I, a Class V contest for horses rated 21–46 (1–26 eligible) run over 1100 metres at 03:00 PM. Guided with confidence by Vinod Shinde, the Rutherford Alford-trained runner delivered a sharp finishing effort for the owners M/s Cherie Sports Pvt Ltd, adding another notable success to the afternoon’s proceedings.
The Kolkata race result 12 March card continued to deliver competitive sprinting, and MI Arion’s victory was a fine example of well-timed riding and tactical placement in the short dash. Positioned within striking distance through the early stages, Shinde allowed the gelding to settle before asking for his effort approaching the final furlong. Once switched into top gear, MI Arion quickened decisively, asserting his advantage in the closing strides to take command of the contest.
Cashable, ridden by Suraj Narredu and trained by Ritesh E. K, chased the winner home gamely to secure second place after staying on strongly in the straight. Memphis, partnered by M. S. Deora for trainer Javed Khan, completed the frame in third, keeping on steadily behind the leading pair as the field raced to the line.
With this sprint decided, attention now turns to the next contest on the card — The Whomakestherules Handicap Div II, scheduled to be run at 03:30 PM, where another competitive field is set to take centre stage at the Kolkata races.
