The third day of the Winter Meeting at Royal Calcutta Turf Club opened on Sunday, 11 January 2026, with Race 1, THE ALVARADA CUP, a Class V contest for horses rated 1–26 over 1400 metres, run at 12:00 PM. In a composed and well-judged performance, Divine Run delivered a decisive victory under A A Vikrant, giving trainer Deepesh Narredu a positive early start to the card for owners Mr Daulat Chhabria, Mr Hatim A Lakdawala, Dr Prabhakar Chowdary Tripuraneni, Mr Teja Gollapudi & Mr Anil Saraf. The result set the tone for what promised to be a competitive afternoon, adding early clarity to the wider Kolkata race result 11 January narrative.

Settled smoothly through the early stages, Divine Run travelled comfortably in midfield as the field negotiated the backstretch. Vikrant angled the filly out approaching the home turn, asking for an effort at just the right moment. Responding willingly, Divine Run quickened smartly inside the final furlong, asserting control in the closing strides to seal the issue without undue pressure.

Banduk Wali stayed on resolutely to finish second, with Arman Khan aboard for trainer Rutherford Alford, keeping the winner in sight but unable to bridge the decisive gap late on. Dubai Prince, partnered by M S Deora and trained by Shafiq Khan, completed the frame in third after a steady effort from off the pace. Official timings for the placed runners were yet to be confirmed at the time of reporting.

With the opener concluded, attention quickly turned to the THE DESERT GOD CUP, scheduled for 12:30 PM, as the Calcutta card continued to build toward its feature contests later in the day.
