The seasoned Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC) will ensure there is little time for pause as a busy card unfolds across six races on Friday, 20 March. The afternoon’s fixture will be presented with customary precision, offering a carefully structured sequence of contests that will accommodate a diverse range of competitors, from lightly raced three-year-olds to seasoned performers. Racing will commence at 2:45 PM and will proceed through a compact yet comprehensive schedule, culminating in the early evening.
The opening contest, The Predator Handicap, will be run at 2:45 PM over 1600 metres, carrying a total prize of Rs.3,00,000. This Class V event for horses rated 1–26 will feature Carnation, Northbound, and Royal Member among its principal runners, while Mountain Gold and Pyrgos will contribute further substance to the field. The race will serve as an introductory test of stamina and pace among lower-rated contenders.
The second race, The King’s Academy Plate, will be conducted at 3:15 PM over 1100 metres, with a prize fund of Rs.11,00,000. Restricted to three-year-olds, the sprint will bring together emerging names such as Fifty Shades, Knotty Nash, and Tekton. Catherine and Peaberry will also take their places, adding to what will be a competitive contest among developing horses.
Attention will then shift to The Sky Classic Handicap, scheduled at 3:45 PM over 1400 metres, offering a purse of Rs.5,00,000. This Class IV race for horses rated 41–66 will include Conjurer, Cat Whiskers, and Gordon as notable participants. In close succession, The Amberetta Handicap will also be staged at 4:15 PM over 1100 metres, with prize money of Rs.5,50,000. Open to Class III runners rated 61–86, the sprint will feature Oishika, Morano, and Aspira alongside Blinky Bill, Casha, Light The World, and Superlative. The race will likely emphasise early pace and tactical positioning.
The principal attraction, The Adjudicate Cup, will be run at 4:45 PM over 1600 metres, carrying the highest prize of the day at Rs.17,40,000. Open to horses aged four years and above, the race will include Glorious King, who will be partnered by Nikhil Naidu, while Dubai Princess will be ridden by P. Trevor. Ruling Star, King Louis, Charismatic, and Sativur will also take part, forming a field of proven ability and experience. The contest will stand as the defining race of the afternoon, bringing together accomplished runners over a testing mile.
The concluding event, The Almanac Handicap, will be scheduled for 5:15 PM over 1400 metres, with a prize fund of Rs.4,00,000. This Class IV race for horses rated 21–46 will feature Priceless Prince, Cashalaika, and Xtravagant Star, while Ananta Sukha, Laamika, Lucky Nine, and Rosalia will complete the lineup, drawing the meeting to a structured close.
