Dual Domestic Group 1 winner Wanaameen will make his seasonal comeback at King Abdulaziz Racecourse on Saturday, October 24, 2026, when he heads the field for the SAR120,000 Prep for Prince Mohammed bin Saud Alkabeer Cup over 2,000 metres.
The four-year-old, trained for the White Stable of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, will return to the scene of his January success in the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup. Camilio Ospina will take the ride as Wanaameen targets a third consecutive victory.
He previously won the Group 1 Crown Prince Cup under Christophe Soumillon in December 2025 before adding the January title. The White Stable will also field Alfakher and Kaflahom, while Prince Faisal bin Khaled bin Abdulaziz’s Red Stable will be represented by Ibn Laboun and the lightly raced Le Oyoun Note.
Wanaameen Heads Saturday’s Competitive Programme
Owner Sheikh Abdullah Homoud Almalek Alsabah will have three runners in Saturday’s SAR120,000 Open over 1,600 metres. Ricardo Ferreira will partner 15-time winner Ya Dar, Muhammad Aldaham will ride Mullazem, and Fahad Alfouraidi will take the mount on Instant Appeal, an Irish import whose only start at Taif in August ended with a finish down the field.
Sa’aeid, ridden by Adel Alfouraidi, will hold the highest rating among the 14 declared runners. The American-bred runner will return after finishing 13th in the Listed Tuwaiq Cup on The Saudi Cup undercard, having won over 2,000 metres during the previous campaign.
The opening SAR120,000 Arabian Horses Open over 1,600 metres will feature Baseq And Bake and Jade De Faust, who finished first and second respectively in the Taif Sprint Championship for Arabian Horses. Dananeer Al Khalediah will add further interest to the contest. The eight-year-old mare recorded five consecutive victories in 2023 before finishing seventh behind Tilal Al Khalediah in that year’s Obaiya Arabian Classic.
Friday’s programme will feature the SAR150,000 General Intelligence Presidency Cup over 1,600 metres, where Tuwaiq Cup winner Michael Scofield will return for the White Stable. The four-year-old American-bred runner recorded two wins from five starts last season after arriving from Michael O’Callaghan’s Irish stable. Oisin Murphy partnered him to victory in February over 200 metres farther than Friday’s distance.
Sheikh Abdullah Homoud Almalek Alsabah will also field Uncle and Final Destination. The latter finished second in the Tuwaiq Cup and will return after two outings during the Taif Summer Season. He was last seen finishing fifth behind Power Of Beauty in the King Khaled Racecourse Championship on September 26.
The White Stable will also field three runners in Friday’s SAR150,000 Africa Cup over 1,800 metres, including Wakeed and Lelah Doroh. The Red Stable will be represented by Aela Mahlek and Hafedhk Allah among the 17 declared runners.
The King Abdulaziz race meeting will centre on Wanaameen’s seasonal comeback as the dual Domestic Group 1 winner targets a third straight victory in Saturday’s 2,000-metre contest at King Abdulaziz Racecourse. The two-day programme will also feature established runners Michael Scofield, Sa’aeid and several contenders from the White and Red Stables.
