Kempton Park Set for Nine-Race All-Weather Card on Friday
By | 08 Oct 2026 | Mumbai

Kempton Park will stage a nine-race Flat all-weather meeting on Friday, 9 October 2026. The evening programme will begin at 4:05pm and continue until 8:15pm, offering a mixture of novice races and handicaps across distances from six furlongs to one mile, three furlongs and 219 yards. The card will feature several contests for two-year-olds alongside races for older horses.

The meeting will open at 4:05pm with a Fillies’ Novice Stakes, a Class 4 contest for two-year-olds over six furlongs. The race will carry a £10,000 prize fund and will provide the younger fillies with an opportunity to gain experience on Kempton Park’s all-weather surface. Speed and a strong finish will be important over the sprint distance.

At 4:38pm, the Nursery Handicap Stakes will be contested over six furlongs. This Class 5 race is restricted to two-year-olds and carries £8,000 in prize money, with runners rated from 0-75. The compact distance should make early pace and the ability to maintain momentum in the closing stages particularly important.

The third race, scheduled for 5:15pm, will be a Class 6 Handicap Stakes over one mile for three-year-olds. The contest will offer £6,000 in prize money and is open to horses rated between 46 and 55. The additional distance compared with the opening races will place greater emphasis on stamina and tactical positioning.

A major highlight of the evening will arrive at 5:45pm with the Darley EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes. The Class 2 contest will be run over one mile for two-year-old fillies and will carry a valuable £40,000 prize fund. The race will provide a strong opportunity for promising juveniles to make their mark over the mile distance.

At 6:15pm, a Class 4 Novice Stakes for three-year-olds and older horses will take place over one mile. With £10,000 available, the contest will bring together horses at different stages of their development. The mile trip on the all-weather surface should reward runners able to settle before producing a sustained finishing effort.

The sixth race will begin at 6:45pm and will be a Class 5 Handicap Stakes, forming part of the London Mile Series. The first division will be run over one mile for horses aged four and above and will carry £8,000 in prize money. Runners will be rated between 56 and 75, creating a competitive field with several experienced performers.

A second division of the same Class 5 London Mile Series qualifier will follow at 7:15pm. Again covering one mile and carrying £8,000, the race will be open to horses aged four and above with ratings from 56-75. The two divisions will provide further opportunities for established all-weather performers to compete over the distance.

At 7:45pm, attention will turn to a Class 5 Handicap Stakes over one mile, three furlongs and 219 yards. The race will be open to three-year-olds and older horses and will offer £8,000 in prize money. The longer trip will make stamina increasingly important, particularly during the final stages of the race.

The evening will conclude at 8:15pm with a Class 5 Handicap Stakes over seven furlongs. Open to three-year-olds and older horses rated between 51 and 70, the race will carry £8,000 in prize money. The seven-furlong distance sits between the night’s sprint and mile contests, providing a final test of speed, balance and finishing strength.

With nine races scheduled, Friday’s Kempton Park meeting will offer a varied all-weather programme covering several distances and age categories. The Darley EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes at 5:45pm will be one of the evening’s principal contests, while the two divisions of the London Mile Series will add further interest before the final two races complete the card.
