Kempton Park staged an entertaining evening of all-weather racing on Monday, June 29, as seven competitive contests showcased emerging juvenile talent, progressive handicappers and experienced stayers on the Polytrack surface. The meeting produced several impressive performances, with horses from leading stables making their mark across a varied race programme.

The evening began with the Restricted Novice Stakes (Division I) over seven furlongs, where Duke of Burgundy made a winning start under Joe Leavy. Travelling comfortably throughout the contest, the youngster showed an impressive turn of foot in the closing stages to secure victory. It was a polished performance that suggested the horse has the potential to continue progressing during the season.
Division II of the Restricted Novice Stakes followed, with Duidin (IRE) producing another smart display. Guided by Silvestre De Sousa, the Irish-bred runner settled well before taking control inside the final furlong. The success highlighted the colt’s ability and provided connections with an encouraging result as they look ahead to future assignments.
The third race on the card, the Fillies’ Handicap Stakes, saw Show Me Gold record a determined success under William Cox. Racing over seven furlongs, the filly travelled strongly before producing a well-timed challenge to take command in the closing stages. One of the standout performances of the evening came in the Confined Maiden Stakes over six furlongs. Firehorse (IRE), partnered by Cieren Fallon, delivered an authoritative display to open the horse’s winning account. Travelling smoothly throughout, Firehorse quickened impressively entering the final furlong and pulled clear to register a convincing victory. The performance suggested the youngster has a bright future.
The feature mile handicap provided another closely fought contest, with Saytarr emerging victorious under Daniel Muscutt. Positioned prominently throughout the race, Saytarr responded strongly when asked for maximum effort and held off determined challengers to claim an important success. The victory rewarded a composed ride and another consistent performance from the gelding.
The evening’s middle-distance handicap over one mile, two furlongs and 219 yards belonged to The Green Mile (IRE), who was expertly ridden by Charles Bishop. The winner showed stamina and determination throughout before asserting in the closing stages to seal another impressive victory on the all-weather surface.
The final race of the evening, a staying handicap over one mile, seven furlongs and 218 yards, was won by Break Point under Jude Fernandes. Displaying plenty of stamina, Break Point travelled strongly before finishing powerfully in the straight to end the meeting on a high note for connections.
Kempton Park once again demonstrated why it remains one of Britain’s leading all-weather racecourses. The meeting featured promising young horses alongside experienced campaigners, producing competitive racing from the opening contest through to the staying finale.
Among the evening’s most notable winners were Duke of Burgundy, Duidin and Firehorse, all of whom produced performances suggesting they are capable of further success as the season progresses. Established performers such as Saytarr, The Green Mile and Break Point also underlined their consistency with accomplished victories.
