The Inglis Xtra Bonus Series continues to capture attention across the Australian racing scene, with total bonus winnings now surging past an impressive $3 million mark. This milestone was reached following the victory of promising three-year-old filly Considered, trained by Cody Morgan, at Dubbo today.
Launched at the beginning of the current racing season, the Xtra Bonus Series has quickly established itself as a major incentive for owners, trainers, and buyers within the industry. The series has already distributed bonus payouts on 30 occasions from just 43 eligible races—a remarkable strike rate that reflects its growing popularity.
Each season, 50 maiden races across Australia are selected to carry the lucrative $100,000 Xtra Bonus. Eligibility is simple: horses must be graduates of Inglis sales from 2024 onwards and be officially paid up for the Inglis Race Series. This straightforward requirement has made the series highly accessible and attractive to a broad range of participants.
In a short time, the Xtra Bonus has proven its widespread appeal. So far, over 1700 owners have been involved with eligible horses, and more than 250 individual owners have celebrated bonus-winning moments. Additionally, 100 trainers have fielded runners in the series, with Morgan today becoming the 27th different trainer to secure the six-figure prize.
Considered, a daughter of So You Think, was purchased for $30,000 at the HTBA Yearling Sale from the Widden Stud draft by Group One Thoroughbreds. Morgan, visibly delighted after today’s win, expressed how significant the bonus structure is for regional trainers and owners.
“Races restricted to country-trained horses like today’s really level the playing field,” Morgan remarked. “The $100,000 bonus transforms these maidens into life-changing opportunities, especially for owners. It’s a huge motivator to buy from Inglis and be part of the Race Series.”
The concept has injected new energy into the racing community, fostering both excitement and significant returns for connections of winning horses.
Chris Russell, NSW Bloodstock Operations Manager at Inglis, echoed those sentiments, emphasizing how impactful the initiative has been this season.
“Seeing connections walk away with $120,625 for a maiden win is incredible,” Russell said. “We introduced the Xtra Bonus Series to help our clients win more Inglis prizemoney more often, and the results have exceeded our expectations.”
The momentum is set to continue, with the next Inglis Xtra Bonus Maiden scheduled at Hawkesbury this Thursday. Given the overwhelming success and stories like Considered, it’s clear this initiative is reshaping ownership experiences across the nation.
