The air at Oaklands Junction in Melbourne is already buzzing with anticipation as the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale 2026 catalogue went live online, offering racing enthusiasts and bloodstock buyers a glimpse of what could be the next generation of champions. With the sale scheduled from March 1-3, 806 lots are set to parade across the stage, showcasing a remarkable array of pedigree and potential.
Inglis Victorian Bloodstock Manager James Price expressed his delight at the calibre of yearlings. “I feel the standard of yearlings catalogued for the sale for 2026 is higher than at any time I can remember,” Price said. “The quality of the pedigrees, in terms of both stallion power and female families, reads exceptionally well. We are confident this catalogue will produce any number of stars.”
The three-day event will feature yearlings from 64 vendors, including leading Victorian studs such as Yulong, Gilgai, Rosemont Stud, Blue Gum Farm, and Stonehouse Thoroughbreds, alongside a strong interstate presence with names like Segenhoe, Coolmore, Newgate Farm, Vinery, Mill Park, Milburn Creek, Newhaven, Emirates Park, Twin Hills, and The Chase. Buyers will have access to progeny from 110 individual stallions, including household names like Extreme Choice, I Am Invincible, Zoustar, Snitzel, Written Tycoon, and emerging first-season sires such as Anamoe, Artorius, and State of Rest.
The Premier Sale has a track record of producing elite performers. Recent graduates include two G1-winning 2YO colts, Vinrock and Nepotism, and the past three winners of the $20 million G1 The Everest—Bella Nipotina, Think About It, and Nature Strip—who were all offered at public auction. Since 2018, Premier has produced 34 G1 winners, including stars like Benedetta, Griff, Mariamia, Gytrash, and Santa Ana Lane, many of whom could have been purchased for $100,000 or less.
Premier’s influence stretches beyond Australian shores. Graduates have collectively claimed victories in 195 races in Hong Kong since 2018, including horses like Victor The Winner, Beat The Clock, Invincible Sage, and Champion’s Way. In Australia alone, the sale has produced 33 millionaires and winners of 314 individual stakes races over the same period.
The 2026 sale maintains the successful format with 579 Book 1 yearlings offered over the first two days, followed by 227 Book 2 yearlings on Day 3. A vast majority of catalogued lots are eligible for programs such as VOBIS Silver, BOBS, Racing Rewards SA, Westspeed, or TAS Bred. All yearlings are also eligible for the Inglis Race Series, offering further avenues for future success on the track.
As Melbourne gears up for one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the bloodstock calendar, the Premier Sale continues to cement its reputation as a source of racetrack superstars. With hard copies of the catalogue expected within the next fortnight, connections across the globe will be eyeing the next generation of thoroughbred talent.
