The Inglis Digital March (Late) Sale delivered a lively trade on Wednesday, headlined by the progressive filly Washington Lilac, who topped proceedings at $172,500 after her recent on-track success.
Fresh off a winning performance, the daughter of Snitzel attracted strong interest before being secured by Silverdale Farm. Offered by TFI, Washington Lilac boasts an appealing pedigree as a three-quarter sister to Group 1 winner Qafila, enhancing her long-term appeal beyond the racetrack.
Silverdale Farm’s Rob Petith confirmed the filly will continue her racing career under the care of Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, a move that signals confidence in her immediate potential.
“She’s a beautiful filly with a beautiful page,” Petith said. “By Snitzel, and from a family that’s been well developed, she offers plenty of options going forward. We know the pedigree well, and being closely related to a Group 1 winner gives us every confidence in her future as a broodmare when the time comes.”
Vendor representative Sally Houldsworth expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting both the filly’s ability and the efficiency of the sale platform.
“She’s a really well-bred filly with plenty of ability, and I’m sure she’ll provide plenty of enjoyment both on the track and later in the breeding barn,” Houldsworth said. “The timing shows how effective the platform is—she went online Friday, won on Saturday, and sold on Wednesday.”
Strong Depth Beneath the Headline Act at Inglis Digital March (Late) Sale
The Inglis Digital March (Late) Sale also featured notable depth, with Polyglot emerging as the second-highest lot at $155,000. The Lonhro gelding was purchased by Darby Racing and will remain in the Michael Freedman stable.
Polyglot formed part of a 15-horse draft that returned $447,750, pleasing connections who noted consistent demand across all levels of the market.
Racing and Bloodstock Manager Jason Walsh described the results as encouraging. “We met the market at every level, and there were some very pleasing outcomes. It’s a strong reflection of the platform and the opportunities it presents,” he said.
Darby Racing’s Scott Darby was particularly upbeat after securing Polyglot, citing strong recommendations and consistent form lines.
“He’s a horse with solid credentials and still has plenty ahead of him,” Darby said. “He’s been competitive against quality opposition and offers versatility given his current rating. There are multiple paths we can explore with him.”
Among other notable results, Newfoundland realised $110,000, while Wentworth Falls and Buckeye fetched $105,000 and $100,000 respectively. These transactions contributed to a growing tally of six-figure lots on the platform since 2025, underlining sustained demand.
In total, the March (Late) Sale recorded a gross of $3,257,000, marking another productive edition for the digital marketplace.
Entries are now open for the Inglis Digital April (Early) Sale, with submissions accepted until April 8. The sale itself is scheduled to run from April 10 to 15.
