Two well-related mares topped today’s Inglis Digital December (Late) Online Sale, each selling for $140,000 in the final online auction of 2025.
Merry Angelore, a sister to Group 3 winner Aviatress, was purchased by Victorian Andy Grant of APG Invest, while Deadly Desire, a half-sister to Group 1 winner Ruthless Dame, was secured by Cambridge Stud, the pair sharing top-lot honours.
Offered by Northmore in foal to Castelvecchio, Merry Angelore will travel to Widden Stud in New South Wales before Grant decides her future. Grant said the purchase followed discussions with Will Stott about strengthening his broodmare band after several years of ownership and recent involvement in breeding.
Northmore’s Tammy Notman said the mare had originally been considered for the Chairman’s Sale, but Aviatress’ recent Stakes success prompted a switch to the Inglis Digital December (Late) Online Sale, where strong pre-sale interest translated into a pleasing result.
Deadly Desire, a four-year-old by Super Seth and a winning half-sister to Group 1 winner Ruthless Dame, matched that figure when sold by Go Bloodstock to Cambridge Stud. Go Bloodstock’s Steve O’Connor said the price reflected her quality and the strength of her New Zealand family.
The third-highest lot of the December (Late) Sale was King Of Dragons, who realised $120,000 when purchased by Goulburn trainer Matt Dale and bloodstock agent Suman Hedge. The horse formed part of an unreserved reduction for Trilogy Racing, which grossed $274,100.
Trilogy’s Jason Stenning said buyer engagement was strong leading into the sale and bidding remained consistent, particularly given the time of year, with another Trilogy reduction draft to be offered in the Inglis Digital January Online Sale.
A further highlight was the sale of a 2.5 per cent share in dual Group 1-placed filly Within The Law, purchased by US-based bidder Will Stroud for $40,000, valuing the triple Stakes winner at $1.6 million. The Darby Racing-offered share marked Stroud’s fifth investment in Australian racing.
In total, the Inglis Digital December (Late) Online Sale generated $2,411,800, concluding a year in which 130 lots sold for $100,000 or more and overall sales exceeded $95 million, according to Inglis Digital Business Manager Nick Melmeth.
Melmeth said buyer engagement had been strong throughout the year and that the platform upgrade launched in July further enhanced the service, with the team looking ahead to 2026.
There will be one auction in January, running from January 16 to 21, with entries closing at midnight on Wednesday, January 14.
