The opening contest of the day, Race 1 — The Osman Sagar Plate Div II, a Class IV handicap for horses aged four years and upward rated 20 to 45, was run over 1100 metres at 03:00 PM on Monday, March 23, 2026, and it produced a sharp performance from Shooting Star. Trained by R. H. Sequeira and ridden with assurance by B. R. Kumar, the winner, owned by Mr S Pathy, set the tone for the afternoon with a decisive sprinting display.

Ashhad Asbar for trainer Bharath Singh, ran on late to secure third place. The trio were clearly ahead of the remainder, underlining their superiority in this division.
