Hyderabad Racecourse Set to Reopen with Seven-Race Monday Programme

Following an extended hiatus in racing activity, the Hyderabad Racecourse will reopen on Monday, 9 March, when the Hyderabad Race Club (HRC) will conduct a seven-race evening programme. The meeting will mark the return of competitive racing at the venue and will feature a varied schedule of handicaps across several classes along with a maiden event for three-year-old Indian horses. The afternoon fixture will begin in the mid-afternoon and will continue into the early evening with races staged over sprint and middle-distance trips.

The opening contest, The Bhupalpally Plate, will be run at 3:30 PM over 1200 metres with a total prize of Rs.6,50,000. The race is a Class IV handicap for horses four years old and upward rated between 20 and 45. The runners declared for the race include Knotty Senorita, Turiya, Classy Dame, Quick Bay Fox, Beverley, Lights On and Dream To Fly, forming a competitive field to begin the programme.

At 4:00 PM, the card will continue with The Republic Plate, a Class III handicap for horses aged five years and upward rated between 40 and 65. The contest will be run over 1200 metres with a prize fund of Rs.7,40,000. The field will consist of Pontefract, Clara, Knight Crusader, Krystallos, Crimson Flame and Rival.

The third race of the afternoon, The Astonish Plate, will be scheduled at 4:25 PM over 1100 metres with total prize money of Rs.7,40,000. This Class III handicap for horses rated between 40 and 65 will bring together Dubai Touch, Brilliant Lad, Fly To The Stars, Star Of Opera, Calabasas and Rolls Royce in the shortest contest on the card.

At 4:50 PM, attention will turn to The Suryapet Plate, a Class V handicap for horses four years old and upward rated up to 25. The race will be run over 1400 metres with a total prize of Rs.5,00,000. Genie, Golden Bourbon, Politics, Bold Indian, City Cruise and Muaser are scheduled to take part in this middle-distance contest.

The fifth race, The Zoom Zoom Plate, will be the maiden event for three-year-old Indian horses and will be run at 5:20 PM over 1100 metres with a prize of Rs.12,25,000. Ashwa Vivegam, Buddy, Super Splash, The Last Avtar, Wind Castle and Yali will represent emerging talent in this event designed for young runners beginning their racing careers.

The standard of competition will rise with The Attractress Plate at 5:45 PM, a Class I handicap for horses rated 80 and above. The race will be contested over 1200 metres with prize money of Rs.12,25,000. Huntingdon, One N Only, Berrettini, Espionage, Lashka and Miss Maya will form the field in the highest-rated race of the meeting.

The programme will conclude with The Red Satin Plate at 6:10 PM, another Class IV handicap for horses rated between 20 and 45. The race will be run over 1400 metres with total prize money of Rs.6,50,000. Andre’, One Nation, Sargent, Term Deposit, Nkalanzinzi and Caraxes will compete in the final event of the day.

The Hyderabad Race Cards 9 March will present a balanced seven-race programme combining sprint handicaps, a maiden contest for three-year-old horses and a top-level Class I event. The fixture will provide opportunities for runners across several rating categories while marking the return of racing at the Hyderabad venue.
