On 1 December 1920, four stewards decided to officially form a race club, which was formally inaugurated on 20 May 1921. This racecourse land was then formally granted to the club by the Maharaja of Mysore in 1923. Apart from horse racing in Bangalore, it actively supported polo, hunting, and equestrian sports. BTC had contributed financially to war relief funds and military charities during World War II.
After independence, BTC was one of India’s respected racing centres, recognised internationally for its ideal climate and high-quality turf racing conditions. BTC played a key role in introducing modern racing systems.
One of the most exceptional things on the BTC racecourse is witnessing live racing during the summer (May to August) and winter (November to March). It gives you an elite experience to watch top-tier jockeys and thoroughbreds navigate an oval track. With this, you can experience horses competing over distances of 1100m, 1400m, 1600m, and 2000m.
