The recent Inglis Digital June (Late) Sale once again highlighted the increasing presence of international participants, particularly from Hong Kong, in Australia’s thoroughbred market. Leading the sale was the promising colt Secure, who achieved the highest price of $500,000.

Secure, a son of renowned sire Snitzel and dual Group 1-winning mare Response, caught the attention of Hong Kong-based owner C.Y. Wong. Following consistent performances this campaign, including wins at Canterbury and Warwick Farm and a strong second at Randwick, Secure will soon head to Hong Kong to join the stable of respected trainer Manfred Man.

Wong, who has previously sourced successful racehorses through Inglis Digital, expressed confidence that Secure’s pedigree and recent form will translate well to Hong Kong’s competitive racing scene. His earlier purchase, Self Improvement, acquired for $105,000 last year, has since delivered multiple wins and placings, accumulating prize money equivalent to AUD 1 million.

Adding to the international interest, another Hong Kong buyer, So Bloodstock, acquired the third highest-priced lot of the day. The colt Chandler, a two-year-old by I Am Invincible out of dual Group-winning mare Miss Fabulass, was purchased for $305,000.

The auction also saw the sale of Hell Hound, a well-credentialed mare by Hellbent and half-sister to Blue Diamond Prelude winner Letzbeglam. She was purchased by Cambridge Stud for $310,000, offered in foal to Exceedance. The Stud’s longstanding relationship with this family made the acquisition even more appealing, with plans to breed her to Snitzel’s Group 1-winning son Sword of State.

The sale further highlighted the growing trust among both domestic and international participants in the Inglis Digital platform. Sally Williams of TFI, with ownership interests in Secure and Chandler, praised the platform’s global reach and its ability to deliver strong outcomes for sellers.

A number of other horses also attracted significant interest, with twelve lots exceeding $100,000, including Extra Olives ($240,000), Searchin’ Roc’s ($140,000), Sam the Rocket ($120,000), Ikasara ($120,000), and Ringhals ($120,000).

Inglis Digital Business Manager Nick Melmeth noted the significant participation from Hong Kong, illustrating how the platform connects the global bloodstock community. With growing international enquiries, especially for high-potential prospects like Secure, the platform is reinforcing its position as a trusted space for thoroughbred trading.

Looking ahead, the Inglis Digital July (Early) Online Sale promises further excitement, with an unreserved reduction of racing stock from Godolphin and the launch of an upgraded Inglis Digital website. The new site will offer improved features, including simplified login, enhanced mobile compatibility, and refined user functionality.

Entries for the July (Early) Sale close at 12pm AEST on Wednesday, July 9, with the sale running from July 11-16.
