Opening the afternoon’s competitive schedule, the EBF Novice Stakes (Class 2) saw MIND THOSE STEPS secure victory for trainer Tim Easterby and owners Reality Partnerships VII. David Allan delivered the winning ride as the colt completed the one-mile contest in 1m 11.34s. THIS MOMENT finished second, while LOCATION LOCATION secured third place behind the winner.
Providing an early feature on the sprint programme, the Handicap Stakes (Class 4) produced victory for RED SPELLS DANGER, trained by Tim Easterby for owners Mr J N Blackburn & Partner. David Allan partnered the winner to success in a time of 1m 09.07s. MARCELLINUS finished second, narrowly ahead of GO VINCE GO in third.
The staying division came firmly into focus during the Handicap Stakes (Class 3), where VALIANCY continued his progression with a composed success for trainer William Haggas and owners Wathnan Racing. James Doyle guided the runner home in 2m 45.66s to claim the two-mile contest. GHAIYYA finished second, while RIDE THE THUNDER completed the top three placings.
Speed dominated the spotlight in the Handicap Stakes (Class 3) as VANTHEMAN secured victory for trainer Kevin Ryan and owners Alison Muir Tonge and Colin Paterson. Tom Eaves produced a sharp ride as the winner stopped the clock in 0m 57.43 seconds over five furlongs. REIGNING PROFIT finished second, while MANILA SCOUSE took third place.
The fillies’ division added further substance to the afternoon card during the Fillies’ Handicap Stakes (Class 3), with PLAID scoring for trainer James Fanshawe and the Plaid Partnership ownership group. Saffie Osborne guided the filly to victory in 1m 52.72s over the extended middle-distance trip. DUNKELD DREAMER finished runner-up, while SEREN STAR secured third.
A closely contested sprint later on the programme saw MAE AMOR register success in the Handicap Stakes (Class 4) for trainer Rebecca Menzies and owners JPR Investments. Harry Burns partnered the winner to a time of 1m 09.35s over six furlongs. JONNY CONCRETE claimed second place, with TOP JUGGLER finishing third.
Bringing the evening’s proceedings to their conclusion, the Apprentice Handicap Stakes (Class 4) went to LETSBEFRANK for trainer Jim Goldie and owner Mr J. S. Morrison. Lauren Young produced a confident ride aboard the winner, who completed the staying contest in 2m 21.31s. KRISSY finished second, while SURE AND STEDFAST took third place.
