Hamilton Park is set to stage a seven-race meeting on Monday, 28 September 2026, with the afternoon programme featuring a mixture of sprint, middle-distance and staying contests. Racing will begin at 1:44pm and continue through to 5:13pm, with horses aged two years and older set to compete across different classes and ratings.
The opening race at 1:44pm is the Clearwater DC Ltd Environmental Solutions Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Stakes, a Class 5 contest for four-year-olds and older horses. The race will be run over 6 furlongs and 6 yards for a prize of £8,000, with runners rated between 51 and 70. The amateur jockeys will take centre stage in the first contest of the afternoon, with the field facing a sharp sprinting test.
At 2:19pm, the two-year-olds will feature in the Moira Stein Memorial EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes. The Class 4 contest is scheduled over 5 furlongs and 7 yards and carries £11,500 in prize money. Restricted to horses in Bands C and D, the race is also an EBF Restricted Race Qualifier. The young runners will have the opportunity to gain further experience over the short distance.
The third race, scheduled for 2:54pm, is the Rotary Club East Kilbride Nursery Selling Handicap Stakes. This Class 5 event is exclusively for two-year-olds and will be contested over 6 furlongs and 6 yards. The race carries £8,000 in prize money and is open to horses rated from 0 to 75. The runners will face another test of speed and pace as they compete over the sprint distance.
The main prize on the programme comes at 3:29pm with the John Mackenzie and Hamish MacGregor Memorial Handicap Stakes. The Class 3 contest carries £25,000 and is open to three-year-olds and older horses. It will be run over 1 mile and 76 yards, with the runners rated between 71 and 90. The longer trip will provide a different challenge from the earlier sprint races, requiring the field to maintain its pace over the extended distance.
Another £25,000 Class 3 contest follows at 4:04pm with the Barbara Ann Letham and Son Johnathan Memorial Handicap Stakes. The race is open to three-year-olds and older horses and will be run over 5 furlongs and 7 yards. With runners rated between 71 and 90, the contest brings together horses competing at the higher Class 3 level and will provide a strong test of speed over the short distance.
The sixth race at 4:38pm is the Phoenix Drilling Ground Investigation Handicap Stakes, a Class 5 event for three-year-olds and older horses. The race covers 5 furlongs and 7 yards and carries £8,000 in prize money. Runners rated between 51 and 70 will line up for the sprint contest, with the short distance leaving little room for error during the race.
The meeting will conclude at 5:13pm with the Annual Members of Hamilton Park Handicap Stakes. The Class 6 contest is open to three-year-olds and older horses and is the longest race of the afternoon, covering 1 mile 4 furlongs and 23 yards. It carries £7,000 in prize money and is restricted to runners rated between 46 and 60. The extended distance will place the emphasis on stamina and the ability to maintain a consistent pace through the closing stages.
Monday’s Hamilton Park card therefore offers a varied programme, beginning with sprint contests and moving through middle-distance racing before finishing with the day’s longest event. The two £25,000 Class 3 races at 3:29pm and 4:04pm form the centrepiece of the meeting, while the programme also provides opportunities for two-year-olds, amateur jockeys and horses competing across a range of ratings.
With seven races scheduled between 1:44pm and 5:13pm, Hamilton Park promises a full afternoon of racing action on Monday, 28 September.
