Gulfstream Park will resume live racing on Friday as the Sunshine Meet continues with a nine-race programme featuring promising juvenile runners, turf contenders looking to improve and the return of Finding Strength in Race 8.

The Gulfstream Park Friday Preview focuses on three races of particular interest: Race 5, a five-furlong turf maiden featuring several promising two-year-olds; Race 7, a one-mile turf contest for three-year-old fillies; and Race 8, where Finding Strength will make her seasonal debut over six furlongs on Tapeta.

Seven of Hearts Attracts Attention in Race 5

A notable newcomer will line up in Race 5 as Seven of Hearts, a full sister to Grade 1 winner Blazing Sevens, prepares for her debut under Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse. The daughter of Good Magic comes from an accomplished family, with Blazing Sevens having won the 2022 Champagne Stakes (Grade 1) before finishing second in the 2023 Preakness Stakes (Grade 1).

Seven of Hearts will be ridden by Edwin Gonzalez in a 10-horse field that also includes several interesting newcomers and runners with previous experience. Casse will also saddle Sass Sass, a daughter of War of Will who finished third on debut in the Royal Palm Juvenile behind Liberty Rings, a multiple-stakes winner, and Pros and Cons, who subsequently won.

Rhett Dreams, trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., will seek to improve on a difficult-trip debut at Kentucky Downs. The daughter of Jack Christopher will be partnered by Micah Husbands. Eager Gal, a daughter of Highly Motivated trained by Rohan Crichton, is another first-time starter to watch after a series of encouraging workouts.

The field also features well-bred daughters of Golden Pal, Mitole and Speaker’s Corner, adding depth to an intriguing juvenile contest.

Intricity Returns to Turf in Race 7

Race 7 will bring together three-year-old fillies over a mile on turf, with Intricity looking to make amends for a troubled effort on Tapeta. Trained by David Fawkes, the daughter of Complexity returns to turf in search of a stronger performance.

Knows Everything, prepared by Dale Romans, has finished close behind Complexity in her last two starts and will aim to build on that consistency. Kokomo Kitty, trained by Jose D’Angelo, will make her turf debut after recording third-place finishes in both of her starts on dirt.

The daughter of Uncle Chuck has been working on both Tapeta and turf ahead of the surface switch. Her previous consistency provides a useful foundation as she takes on a different test.

Finding Strength Returns in Gulfstream Park Race 8

Finding Strength will make her 2026 debut in Friday’s Race 8, a six-furlong optional claiming allowance for fillies and mares on Tapeta. Trained by Michael Yates, the daughter of Khozan ended her two-year-old campaign with a pair of stakes placings, including a narrow defeat in the Florida Sire Stakes Desert Vixen, where she lost by a nose to multiple-stakes winner Lennilu.

A series of encouraging workouts has prepared Finding Strength for her return. Yates believes the filly is ready to compete, although the Tapeta surface remains an unknown because she has yet to race on it.

The trainer explained that the primary objective was to bring her back to the races after the layoff. He expressed confidence in her preparation and expected a competitive performance, while acknowledging that her first start on Tapeta would provide an important test.

Barakah, trained by Joseph, is also set to return after winning on Tapeta in her debut on March 29. The daughter of Speightstown has not raced since that victory and will look to build on the promise shown in her first appearance.

Casse will be represented by Ocala Gala, a daughter of Code of Honor who returns to Tapeta after three even efforts on turf. She previously broke her maiden on the synthetic surface, making Friday’s return an interesting part of the Race 8 contest.

Nine-Race Card Offers a Mix of Newcomers and Returning Runners

Friday’s programme at Gulfstream Park will provide an opportunity to assess several developing prospects and runners returning from breaks. Seven of Hearts brings an appealing pedigree into Race 5, Intricity will attempt to regain form on turf in Race 7, and Finding Strength’s seasonal return will be a central talking point in Race 8.

The nine-race card combines debutantes with runners who have already shown promise, setting up a programme with several storylines to follow.
