Listowel Racing Wednesday seven-race programme at Listowel Racecourse
By | 19 Sep 2026 | Mumbai

Gowran Park will stage a seven-race Flat meeting on Saturday, September 19, with racing scheduled to begin at 2:06 PM and continue through to 5:37 PM. The programme will feature contests ranging from seven furlongs to one mile and one furlong plus 100 yards, with maiden races, handicaps and a €70,000 Group 3 contest forming the main elements of the afternoon.

The meeting will open with The Racing Again October 2nd & 3rd Race at 2:06 PM. The seven-furlong contest will carry a prize fund of €18,000 and will provide the first opportunity for runners to compete at Gowran Park during the afternoon. The shorter trip will place an early emphasis on speed before the programme moves towards longer distances.

At 2:41 PM, The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden will follow over one mile. The €22,000 contest will be restricted to fillies and will provide the second race of the afternoon. The mile distance will present a different test from the opening seven-furlong event, requiring the runners to maintain their pace over a longer trip.

The third race will be The Irish EBF (C & G) Maiden (Smullen Series), scheduled for 3:15 PM. The €25,000 contest will be run over one mile and will be restricted to colts and geldings. It will continue the sequence of opportunities for developing runners before the meeting reaches its principal event.

Group 3 Contest Will Headline Gowran Park Racecards 19 September

The Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes will provide the main feature of the afternoon at 3:50 PM. The Group 3 contest will carry €70,000 and will be run over one mile, one furlong and 100 yards.

As the fourth race on the seven-race programme, the feature will occupy the central position on the card and will represent the highest-class contest of the afternoon. The extended distance will provide the runners with a test beyond the conventional mile, placing greater importance on their ability to sustain their pace through the closing stages.

The Group 3 contest will also provide a clear contrast to the maiden races earlier in the programme. While the opening events will offer opportunities for developing runners, the Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes will bring together fillies competing at Group 3 level and will form the principal attraction for the meeting.

The SIS Maiden will follow at 4:25 PM. The €12,000 contest will again be contested over one mile, one furlong and 100 yards. Coming immediately after the feature, the race will continue the afternoon’s emphasis on middle-distance contests while providing another opportunity for runners in maiden company.

The sixth race will be The Support The Irish Injured Jockeys Fund Apprentice Handicap at 5:02 PM. The contest will carry €12,000 and will be run over the same one-mile, one-furlong-and-100-yards distance. With apprentice riders taking part, the race will add another dimension to the later stages of the programme.

The afternoon will conclude at 5:37 PM with The BOYLE Sports Home Of Early Payout Handicap. The final contest will carry €10,000 and will return to one mile. It will provide a shorter test after three races over the extended middle-distance trip and will bring the seven-race meeting to a close.

The overall Gowran Park Racecards 19 September programme will offer a varied combination of race conditions and distances. The opening seven-furlong contest will provide a speed test, while the two one-mile maidens will give developing runners opportunities over a standard mile. The Group 3 feature will then provide the principal class test of the afternoon.

The three contests over one mile and one furlong plus 100 yards will add a stronger stamina element to the card. The SIS Maiden and apprentice handicap will follow the Group 3 feature over the same distance, before the concluding handicap returns to one mile.

The meeting will therefore provide a mixture of opportunities for different categories of runners. Three maiden contests will feature during the afternoon, while the apprentice handicap will add variety to the later part of the card. The €70,000 Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes will remain the standout event, providing the highest-value and highest-class contest on the programme.

For followers of Gowran Park racing, the seven-race card will offer a progression from the opening sprint-distance contest through a series of mile and extended-mile races. The Group 3 feature at 3:50 PM will form the central attraction before the final three races complete the afternoon.

Gowran Park will therefore offer a seven-race Flat programme combining maiden opportunities, handicaps and a valuable Group 3 contest. Racing will begin at 2:06 PM and will continue until 5:37 PM, with the Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes providing the principal highlight at 3:50 PM.

Gowran Park Racecards 19 September will feature seven Flat races, with the €70,000 Group 3 Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes providing the principal feature of the afternoon.
