Golden Thunder storms to glory in Bangalore St. Leger 2025, the feature event at Bangalore Turf Club

Golden Thunder, piloted by Antony Raj S., powers home ahead of DYF and Truth in The Bangalore St. Leger 2025 at Bangalore Turf Club.

The penultimate race on day 20 of the Bangalore Summer Meeting 2025 was the afternoon’s showpiece event, The Bangalore St. Leger, a Grade III, 2800-meter terms race for Indian horses aged four years and above. With a substantial prize purse of ₹22,17,500, and an additional ₹22,175 awarded to the breeder of the winner, the stage was set for a stern stamina test.

Golden Thunder rose to the occasion in dominant fashion, powering through the long stretch to seal a convincing win in 3:11.22. The stayer was expertly handled by Antony Raj S. for trainer Karthik Ganapathy, who will be pleased with the gelding’s staying prowess and composure over the extended trip. The horse is owned by M/s. Arun Alagappan Racing LLP, represented by Mr. Arun Alagappan.

Runner-up honors went to the ever-consistent DYF, trained by Adhiraj Singh Jodha and partnered by P. Trevor. The horse finished the race in 3:11.98. DYF is owned by Five Stars Shipping Co Pvt Ltd, represented by Mr. K. N. Dhunjibhoy, Mr. Z. K. Dhunjibhoy, Ms Anosha Meyers, Mr. Rama Seshu Eyunni, Mr. Jiyaji Bhosale, and Mr. Rishikesh Bhosale.

The top three was completed by Truth, trained by S. Sreekanth and ridden by Vivek G., who stayed on gamely in the final stages and finished in 3:13.30. The horse is owned by Mr. N. V. Rohin Kumar and Mr. G. K. Keshavamurthy.

With the St. Leger done and dusted, the curtain draws closer with just one more event to go, The Aboline Plate.
