The opening contest of the afternoon at Mysore Race Club’s Monsoon Meeting (9th Day, Friday, October 3, 2025) saw an authoritative performance from Gandolfini (J: P. Trevor, T: K. Purshotham), who captured the 1st Race – The Srirangapattana Plate (Div II), Class IV (20 to 45), over 1400 metres. Racing in the silks of Mr. Y. S. Harsha, Gandolfini produced a fluent display, stopping the clock at 1:25.065 to open the card in fine style.
From the jump, Gandolfini settled comfortably behind the early pace before P. Trevor angled him out with precision at the top of the straight. Showing both poise and acceleration, the gelding responded instantly, surging clear in the final furlong to seal the race with a touch of authority. The winning ride reflected Trevor’s tactical patience and Purshotham’s well-judged preparation.
The minor placings were closely contested, with Chinky Pinky (J: Aleemuddin, T: M. Rajendra Singh) finishing second in 1:25.273, just a shade behind the winner. Natural One (J: Ankit Pal, T: Mansoor Khan) produced a late run to take third in 1:25.341, ensuring the race concluded with narrow margins separating the top trio.
With the opener delivering a sharp start to the card, attention now shifts to the Mandakalli Plate at 2:30 PM, where another competitive field lines up in pursuit of Mysore honours.
