The highlight of the opening day of the Bangalore Winter Meeting 2025 unfolded in the 5th race – The Rajyotsava Trophy, a Class I contest for horses three years old and over, run over 1400 metres at 4:00 PM on Saturday, November 1st, 2025. In a brilliant display of control and determination, Galahad (Jockey: Antony Raj S.) stormed home to victory for trainer S. S. Attaollahi, stopping the clock at 1:23.76. The stylish gelding carried the silks of Sarainaga Racing Pvt Ltd, M/s DT Racing & Breeding LLP, Mr Mukul A. Sonawala, Mr S. R. Sanas, and Mr Inderraj Anand, delivering a win that had the Bangalore Turf Club crowd on its feet.
Breaking smartly from the gates, Galahad settled in a stalking third as the early leaders pushed a brisk pace through the backstretch. Antony Raj bided his time, keeping the favourite within striking distance before unleashing a decisive run entering the final furlong. With a smooth yet assertive ride, the Attaollahi-trained runner surged past the front-runners, extending clear in the final 100 metres to seal the race with authority.
Imperial Blue (Jockey: Arvind Kumar N., Trainer: Irfan Ghatala) ran on gamely to finish second in 1:24.21, showing consistency but unable to match the winner’s finishing burst. Close behind came Kalamitsi (Jockey: Vivek G., Trainer: S. S. Attaollahi) in 1:24.36, ensuring the stable had two horses in the top three – a testament to Attaollahi’s strong start to the winter season.
With the Rajyotsava Trophy concluded in fine style, attention now turns to the 6th race of the day – The Jayanth Shah Memorial Trophy, scheduled for 4:30 PM, promising yet another thrilling chapter in Bangalore’s winter racing carnival.
