The mare travelled comfortably throughout the contest before asserting her authority in the closing stages. Showing both stamina and composure, Evening Tess handled the conditions well and found plenty when asked for her effort. The second race on the programme, the Sun Racing The Home of Racing Handicap Steeple Chase over 2m 3f 158y, produced a determined winner in A Little Something, partnered by Ben Jones. The gelding jumped accurately throughout and was always positioned within striking distance of the leaders. Turning for home, Jones asked his mount to close the gap and A Little Something responded admirably, staying on strongly to secure victory. The success rewarded a patient ride and highlighted the horse’s ability to compete effectively in handicap company.

Attention then turned to the Celebrating the Life of Trevor Schooley Handicap Hurdle Race over 2m 1f 216y. The contest provided one of the most eye-catching performances of the afternoon as Almuhit (IRE) and jockey Harry Cobden combined to claim top honours. Almuhit travelled fluently from an early stage and looked full of confidence throughout. Producing a smooth challenge approaching the final hurdles, the gelding quickly moved into contention before powering clear. The victory underlined his current good form and demonstrated his versatility over intermediate distances.

The feature staying chase of the day, the Weatherbys Racing Bank Handicap Steeple Chase over 3m 2f, saw Gata Ban (IRE) emerge victorious after a resolute display. Ridden by Dylan Johnston, the Irish-bred runner showcased admirable stamina over the extended trip. With several rivals applying pressure during the latter stages, Gata Ban continued to find more, maintaining a strong gallop all the way to the line. The performance was a testament to both the horse’s endurance and Johnston’s measured handling throughout the race.

The fifth race, the Jewson Handicap Hurdle over 2m 3f, delivered a memorable success for Easter Icon, ridden by Isabelle Ryder. In a competitive handicap, Easter Icon settled well before gradually improving position during the middle stages. Approaching the home straight, Ryder timed her challenge perfectly and the pair surged forward when it mattered most. Easter Icon’s determination proved decisive as the horse battled gamely to secure victory, providing connections with a well-deserved reward.

The concluding event of the afternoon, the Cathedral Wealth Ahead of the Field Handicap Hurdle over 3m 2f, rounded off proceedings in fine style. Jack The Savage, under the guidance of Sean Bowen, demonstrated impressive stamina to land the staying contest. Bowen ensured his mount remained relaxed through the early exchanges before steadily increasing the tempo as the race developed. Once in front, Jack The Savage showed admirable resilience to fend off challengers and maintain his advantage to the finish.

Several jockeys enjoyed productive afternoons, with Harry Skelton, Harry Cobden and Sean Bowen all guiding winners home. Their tactical awareness and strong finishes played key roles in securing success for their respective mounts.
