The Longines Global Champions Tour has widened its partnership with Qatar’s Years of Culture initiative, linking top-level equestrian sport with international cultural exchange across three headline venues in the 2026 season — Mexico City, Cairo and Rabat.
The move builds on a successful first collaboration in Rabat in 2024, staged during the Qatar-Morocco Year of Culture, and signals a broader international reach for a project that aims to connect audiences beyond the arena.
Mexico City will provide one of the first major moments of the expanded alliance when the circuit returns to Campo Marte from 16 to 19 April. Framed by Chapultepec Park, the venue has become one of the most recognisable stops on the calendar, admired for its atmosphere, energetic crowds and blend of sport with local celebration.

This year’s Mexico City leg will sit within the Qatar Canada and Mexico 2026 Year of Culture, using equestrian competition as a meeting point for communities and ideas. Organisers say the programme will highlight Mexico’s rich riding tradition, creative identity and global influence, while strengthening ties with Qatar through shared experiences.
Attention on the sporting side will also fall on the Doha Falcons GCL team, represented by Jessica Mendoza, Sanne Thijssen and Nathan Budd. The trio bring a balance of experience and emerging talent as they prepare for one of the most vibrant stages of the campaign.
His Excellency Mohammed Al Kuwari, Years of Culture Advisor on Latin America, said the expanded agreement reflected the initiative’s founding purpose of building enduring relationships between nations through common experiences.
He added that Mexico City was a particularly important chapter, bringing together sport, culture and community in one of the world’s most dynamic capitals.
Longines Global Champions Tour founder and president Jan Tops said the announcement marked an exciting point in the 2026 season and underlined the success of the earlier Rabat partnership.
He said the collaboration would now grow across multiple destinations, combining elite sport and cultural exchange in a way that resonates with international audiences. He added that celebrating sport, culture and connection lies at the heart of the tour.
The partnership will also return to Rabat, where the original project drew praise for weaving cultural diplomacy into a leading equestrian event. Cairo, one of the most anticipated additions to the 2026 schedule, will offer another significant stage, with Egypt’s history and heritage expected to feature prominently.
By stretching across three major cities, the initiative reflects a shared ambition to do more than host competition. Organisers hope it will create spaces where communities meet, traditions are celebrated and long-term global connections are formed through sport.
Years of Culture, chaired by Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, was established to foster understanding and respect between nations through lasting cultural partnerships. Since its launch, the programme has included collaborations with countries such as Japan, the United Kingdom, Brazil, India, France, Morocco and others.
