The competition intensified on day 22 of the Bangalore Summer Meeting with The Salazaar Plate, a 1200-meter handicap sprint for horses rated 60 to 85. With a winners’ purse of ₹7,00,000 up for grabs, the race attracted a sharp field of seasoned runners.
Stepping up with authority was Excellent Lass, who delivered a textbook sprint under ace jockey Suraj Narredu. Trained by Rajesh Narredu, the filly surged ahead in the final strides to take victory in 1:13.54, impressing with her acceleration and race awareness. She is owned by Mr. Daulat Chhabria, Mr. Ashok Ranpise, Mr. Teja Gollapudi, and M/s. Rapar Galloping Stars LLP, represented by Mr. Rajendran.
Finishing second was Never Give In, who put up a gallant fight under Antony Raj S. for trainer Arjun Mangalorkar. Despite showing solid pace and grit, the horse had to settle for runner-up honours in 1:13.86.
Victoria Doresaani, ridden by A. Sandesh and trained by Irfan Ghatala, claimed the third spot with a strong effort, finishing close behind in 1:13.98.
With this electrifying contest concluded, attention now turns to the next race on the card, The Admiral Henry John Rous Trophy, promising more top-class action.
