The seventh race of the Pune Meeting 2025, held on Sunday, 2nd November 2025, witnessed a breathtaking finish as Duke of Tuscany delivered a performance of sheer class and courage to capture The R.W.I.T.C, Ltd Trophy — a terms race for horses four years old and over run over 2000 metres at 4:00 PM. Partnered by the ever-reliable P. Trevor and trained by the master conditioner P. Shroff, Duke of Tuscany surged home with relentless determination, clocking 2:02:242 to seal victory for owners Mr K. N. Dhunjibhoy, Mr Z. K. Dhunjibhoy & Ms Anosha Meyers rep. Five Stars Shipping Co Pvt Ltd, Mr Rama Seshu Eyunni & Ms Anita J. Captain.
It was a race that truly captured the spirit of Pune racing — high tempo, high drama, and heart-stopping excitement. As the gates flew open, Duke of Tuscany settled comfortably behind the pace, conserving his energy while stalking the leaders with poise. Coming into the final bend, Trevor began to angle his mount out, and the response was electrifying. In a burst of acceleration that left the stands roaring, Duke of Tuscany swept past his rivals with an imperious stride, asserting his authority and crossing the finish line to the cheers of an enthralled crowd.
The battle for the minors was just as fierce. Regina Memorabilis (J: Suraj Narredu, T: Imtiaz A. Sait) pushed hard in the closing stages to take second in 2:02:415, keeping the winner honest till the final strides. Odysseus (J: R. Ajinkya, T: P. Shroff) fought valiantly to secure third in 2:02:577, giving the Shroff stable a strong double presence in the frame.
As the echoes of applause still lingered around the Pune Racecourse, fans now turned their attention to the next thrilling contest — The Aster Rose Plate, scheduled at 4:30 PM — promising another chapter of pulsating turf action at the Royal Western India Turf Club.
