Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup to showcase global talent in 2025
The Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup continues to innovate within the world of horseracing. This year, for the first time, female jockeys in horse racing will be integrated across all four teams—marking a milestone in the Cup’s long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Among the most talked-about debutants is Katie Davis of the USA, who gained worldwide recognition through the Netflix series Race for the Crown. She joins Hugh Bowman (Australia) and Karis Teetan (Mauritius) in the Rest of the World team, bringing a wealth of experience from racing circuits around the globe. Davis, originally from Idaho and raised in Saratoga, has also participated in the prestigious International Jockey Challenge in Saudi Arabia.
“It was amazing to be invited and it should be a great buzz to ride on such a big day at Ascot, one of the most famous racecourses in the world,” said Davis. “I think it’s great what they have done with the teams this year, and I can’t wait to compete with Hugh and Karis.”
Santiago and Mason strengthen Shergar Cup teams 2025
French jockey Delphine Santiago will bolster the Europe team, lining up alongside Sweden’s Per-Anders Gråberg and Italy’s Dario Di Tocco. Santiago brings extensive European race experience and will be one of the key names to watch in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup.
Meanwhile, the Great Britain & Ireland team will now be complete with the addition of Joanna Mason. Mason will ride alongside top British jockey Hollie Doyle and Ireland’s Robbie Dolan, making the trio a strong contender on home turf. Their combined strengths bring depth and balance to one of the most anticipated Shergar Cup teams 2025.
Asia team adds international power to Shergar Cup 2025
A newly-introduced Asia team will add even more diversity to the event. Team Asia will be captained by Indian jockey Suraj Narredu, who joins forces with Japanese riders Ryusei Sakai and Mirai Iwata to represent the continent for the first time in Shergar Cup history—making it one of the most dynamic international line-ups of the year.
With jockeys from five continents—Europe, Asia, North America, Africa, and Oceania—taking part, the 2025 Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup features the most international line-up in its history. Each team consists of three riders, all competing for team and individual glory over the course of the day.
Ascot backs diversity in international team racing
