Don Carlos claims a solid victory in the Lt. Col. Gaunt Memorial Trophy at BTC

Don Carlos surges ahead under Vivek G to win the Lt. Col. Gaunt Memorial Trophy at Bangalore Turf Club in a competitive sprint.

The afternoon’s fifth race at the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC), held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, saw Don Carlos deliver a determined performance to win the Lt. Col. Gaunt Memorial Trophy. This 1200-metre handicap for horses rated 40 to 65 carried a winners’ prize of Rs. 6,30,000 and was closely contested by a strong field of sprinters.

Trained by S. S. Attaollahi and ridden by Vivek G, Don Carlos showed good speed and maintained a steady gallop to cross the finish in 1:15.25. Owned by Five Stars Shipping Co Pvt Ltd, M/s. DT Racing & Breeding LLP, and Mr. Rama Seshu Eyunni, the winner responded gamely when asked for an effort in the final metres.

Finishing second was Knotty Blush, ridden by Y. S. Srinath for trainer K. Purshotham, who kept on well in the straight to clock 1:16.01, just edging out third place.

Just behind was Whirlwind, guided by Hindu Singh for trainer Vijay Singh, who finished third in 1:16.02, capping off a tight finish for the minor placings.
