Divine Star sprints to glory in The J. E. Hughes Trophy at Pune Racecourse

The fifth event on the Pune Meeting Special Race Day card at Pune Racecourse, saw a high-class field battle it out in the J. E. Hughes Trophy, a 1200-meter handicap for horses rated 60 to 86. With ₹7,50,000 up for grabs for the winners, the race delivered a brilliant showcase of sprinting talent.

It was Divine Star who emerged triumphant, clocking a sharp 1:09.822 under an assertive ride from top jockey P. Trevor. Trained by Aman Altaf Hussain, Divine Star hit the front early and kept up a relentless pace to claim the title. The horse is raced by a powerful ownership group comprising Mr Ashok Ranpise, Mr Pranav Ranpise, Mr D. R. Thacker (rep. DT Racing & Breeders LLP), Mr Rajiv S. Ghule, Mr S. R. Sanas, and Mr Waahiid Ali Khan (rep. Sshaawn Horses and Sports Pvt Ltd).

Running into second was Fighton, ridden by Bharat Singh and trained by M. K. Jadhav, who chased gamely to stop the clock at 1:10:567.

Finishing third was Alpine Star, saddled by Narendra Lagad and partnered by Ramswarup, completing the frame with a time of 1:10:727.
