The Marilingaiah Memorial Trophy, run over a sharp 1200 meters at 3:30 PM on May 31st, lit up the Bangalore Turf Club Ltd. as Divine Star stormed to a resounding win in the sprint event for horses rated 40 to 65. With a total prize purse of ₹6,30,000, the contest served as the fourth race on the card during the 5th day of the Bangalore Summer Meeting 2025.
Guided masterfully by seasoned rider P. Trevor and trained by Aman Altaf Hussain, Divine Star proved too swift for his rivals, exploding out of the gates and taking control in the final 200 meters. The gelding showed impressive turn of foot, stretching away to register a decisive win, adding another feather to Trevor’s illustrious summer campaign.
Hot on his heels was Walking Thunder, piloted by Imran Chisty for the Hyderabad-based trainer L. V. R. Deshmukh. The gelding tracked the pace smartly and posed a serious challenge but had to settle for second after Divine Star quickened decisively in the final strides.
The third place was secured by Aquastic, with Suraj Narredu aboard for trainer S. S. Attaollahi. The colt ran a steady race, showing flashes of acceleration late, and managed to hold off other closers to round off the frame, indicating potential for improvement in upcoming sprint races.
This electrifying sprint added momentum to an already engaging afternoon at BTC. With Divine Star making a strong case for future success over sprint distances, the day promises more top-class action.
