All eyes were on The Obligado Trophy, the feature event of the day at Mysore Race Club, and it did not disappoint. Run over 1200 meters at 4:00 PM, this high-stakes handicap for horses rated 60 and above carried a total prize purse of Rs. 7,00,000, with the winner earning Rs. 3,50,000. It was the fifth race on a seven-race card and delivered a finish worthy of its billing.
Deus Ex Machina, trained by Ranjeet Shinde and ridden with sharp timing by jockey Hasib Alam, produced a powerful run to take top honors, clocking 1:10.953. The pair surged ahead in the final furlong and held their advantage to clinch a memorable win in a tightly fought contest.
Hot on their heels was Stag’s Leap, piloted by Likith Appu K G and trained by Bobby M. The gelding put in a gritty performance and crossed the line in 1:11.214, just fractions off the winner, to secure a commendable second-place finish.
Third place was taken by Constant Variable, with C. Umesh in the saddle and Fahad Khan calling the training shots. Clocking 1:11.215, the gelding missed out on the runner-up spot by a whisker, wrapping up an exhilarating finish to the day’s most anticipated race.
With the main event concluded in grand fashion, the excitement rolls on to the sixth race — The Seabiscuit Plate, a 1400-meter contest scheduled for 4:30 PM.
