Monday’s Delhi races Sees Winners Dominate from Start to Finish

The Delhi Racecourse set the tone for an absorbing afternoon of competition on Monday, 5 January 2026, and early interest in the Delhi race results 5 January was rewarded with a series of decisive performances across the six-race card on the Seventeenth Day of the 2025–26 season.

Race No. 01 – The Sunray Plate (1400m), 2:00 PM

The day opened with Race No. 01, The Sunray Plate, a 1400-metre contest that saw Rhapsody In Green deliver a polished performance under R. Yousaf to score with authority for trainer Sarfaraz Khan. Racing in the colours of Mr Sudhir Chaudhary, the winner travelled smoothly throughout before asserting clear control in the final furlong.

Settled comfortably off the pace, Rhapsody In Green quickened smartly when asked and moved to the front inside the final 200 metres, maintaining a strong gallop to the line. Jet Space (J: S. G. Prasad, T: Zulfiqar Khan) stayed on gamely for second, while Ustaad Ji (J: Saurav Rawat, T: Shakti Singh) finished on to claim third after a steady run.

With the opener concluded, attention quickly turned to the competitive divisions of the Ponza Plate.

Race No. 02 – The Ponza Plate Division I (1400m), 2:30 PM

Bhujang made full use of a positive ride from S. G. Prasad to land The Ponza Plate Division I over 1400 metres. Trained by Ajay Sharma and owned by Mr Sanjay Rai, the winner showed determination in the closing stages to hold off late challengers.

Tracked prominently throughout, Bhujang was produced at the right moment and responded willingly under pressure. Ronaldo (J: Varun, T: K. Ali Khan) chased bravely to finish second, while The Panther (J: K. Nazil, T: S. Nawab) stayed on from midfield to secure third.

Race No. 03 – The Ponza Plate Division II (1400m), 3:00 PM

Division II saw a convincing success from Attenborough, who was never seriously threatened under a confident ride by M. B. Qureshi. Trained and owned by Mr Rajinder, the winner travelled powerfully before asserting superiority in the straight.

Once into stride, Attenborough drew away decisively, leaving Treasure (J: Dhanu Singh Deora, T: V. S. Parmar) to settle for second. Big Daddy (J: Kundan Paswan, T: R. Kumar) stayed on steadily to complete the placings.

Race No. 04 – The Bee’s Prospector Plate (1200m), 3:30 PM

Speed took centre stage in the Bee’s Prospector Plate, where Senor delivered a sharp sprinting display over 1200 metres. Once again, the Ajay Sharma – S. G. Prasad combination proved effective, with Senor scoring for owner Mr Sanjay Rai.

Always travelling strongly, Senor quickened decisively at the business end to seal the race. Burning Desire (J: Dhanu Singh Deora, T: H. Ali Khan) finished well for second, while Nashvegas (J: K. Narender Kumar, T: S. M. Abbas) held on for third.

Race No. 05 – The Razeen Plate (1000m), 4:00 PM

The sprint-laden Razeen Plate belonged to Time To Win, who justified strong support with a fluent performance under Angad. Trained by Zulfiqar Khan and owned by Mr Nand Kishor, the winner showed blistering early speed and never relinquished control.

Despite late pressure, Time To Win held firm to defeat stablemate Tomorrows Dreams (J: Vishal Shivhare, T: Zulfiqar Khan), while Lemon Pie (J: Kundan Paswan, T: R. Kumar) finished on for third.

Race No. 06 – The China Visit Plate (1000m), 4:30 PM

The afternoon concluded with Miss Irina producing a strong front-running display in The China Visit Plate. Ridden by Vishal and trained by R. Kumar, the winner scored convincingly for owner Mr Amarjeet Singh Narula.

Quickly into stride, Miss Irina dictated terms throughout and found enough in the final stages to repel the challenge of Chieftain (J: K. Nazil, T: S. Nawab). Lady Danger (J: R. Rakesh, T: V. S. Parmar) stayed on resolutely to take third.

With the Seventeenth Day of the Delhi Meeting wrapped up, focus now shifts to the upcoming feature races, where sharper competition and higher stakes promise another compelling chapter in the 2025–26 season.
