The fourth race of the day at the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) saw Defence Counsel assert dominance to claim victory in the Lumbini Stud Plate on Saturday, July 26, 2025. The 1200-metre handicap race, open to horses rated 40 to 65, carried a total prize purse of Rs. 6,30,000 and featured a competitive field.
Ridden by Abhishek Mhatre and trained by S. Dominic, Defence Counsel delivered a well-timed run to to secure the win in 1:14.98. The winner is owned by Mr. M. Venkatesh and looked sharp throughout the sprint, finishing strongly under pressure.
Close behind in second was Knotty Scotty, ridden by Vivek G and trained by Prasanna Kumar, who clocked 1:15.09 in a spirited effort that narrowly missed the mark.
Storm Shadow, also trained by Prasanna Kumar and guided by Vinod Shinde, took third in 1:15.54, rounding off a productive race for the stable with both second and third place finishes.
