The sixth race of the day at the Mysore Race Club—the Nagamangala Plate (Division I)—treated racing fans to a thrilling photo-finish as Decacorn narrowly prevailed in a high-stakes contest. This 1400-meter handicap for horses rated 40 to 65, flagged off at 4:30 PM, brought out a strong field of contenders battling for a share of the day’s spoils.
Trained by K. Aditya and piloted confidently by jockey Rahil Akhtar, Decacorn showed impressive closing speed and determination in the final furlong, clinching the victory by the slimmest of margins in 1:26.175. It was a ride full of composure and timing, ultimately proving just enough to outduel a fast-closing rival.
That rival was Swagatham, ridden by S. Antony Raj and trained by Rakesh, who clocked 1:26.236. The gelding appeared poised to take the win in the final strides but was edged out by a short head in a finish that had the crowd gasping.
Completing the trifecta was Reign of Terror, trained by K. S. Mandanna and ridden by the experienced C. Umesh, who also finished within striking distance in 1:26.261, showcasing how tightly contested the race truly was.
With such a competitive result, The Nagamangala Plate (Div I) added another highlight to an already action-packed afternoon. Attention now turns to the final event of the day—The Red Satin Plate, set to close proceedings at 5:00 PM. Stay tuned for more from the Mysore Summer Meeting 2025.
