Dax Racecourse will stage an exciting eight-race programme on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, bringing together a mix of hurdle, steeplechase and flat racing contests. Located in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of southwestern France, Dax is one of the country’s established provincial racecourses and is well known for hosting quality summer racing. The meeting begins at 10:30 AM and concludes at 2:17 PM, featuring races across Class 1, Class 3 and Class 4 levels.

The opening event at 10:30 AM is the Prix Arnaud de Watrigant, a Class 3 hurdles race over 3,800 metres for four and five-year-old horses. Seven runners are entered for the contest, although Gemma Dodville (IRE) has been declared a non-runner. The field is headed by Lenotchka, who carries 68kg under jockey Edgar Labaisse for trainer A. Boisbrunet. Stablemate Margaux Rouge, partnered by David Gallon, and Manika Madrik, ridden by Angelo Zuliani, strengthen the Boisbrunet team.

Hatice d’Oroux, trained by Chaillé-Chaillé & Pamart and ridden by Florent Bayle, is another notable contender, while Nirvanafix, prepared by F. Nicolle, and Sainte Co, trained by C. Bonin, complete the expected line-up. The opening race promises a solid test of stamina and jumping ability over the demanding hurdles course.

The feature race follows at 11:00 AM with the Prix Gerald de Geoffre – Grand Steeple-Chase de Dax, a prestigious Class 1 steeplechase run over 4,100 metres. Carrying the highest prize fund of the meeting at €62,000, the race has attracted a field of seven experienced chasers. As the highlight of the day, it is expected to showcase accomplished jump horses capable of handling the demanding distance and challenging fences that make Dax’s steeplechase course a true examination of class, stamina and accurate jumping.

The programme returns to the flat at 11:31 AM with the Prix de la Fontaine Chaude, a Class 3 race over 2,300 metres for three-year-old horses. Nine runners are set to compete in this middle-distance contest, offering young horses an opportunity to continue their development in competitive company.

At 12:03 PM, the Prix du Bois de Boulogne brings together nine runners in a Class 3 contest over 1,400 metres for horses aged four years and older. The shorter trip is expected to place greater emphasis on tactical positioning and finishing speed.

The fifth race at 12:35 PM is the Prix Maurice de Nexon, a Class 4 claiming race contested over 2,100 metres. Twelve runners have been declared for the event, providing a competitive test for experienced performers under claiming conditions.

Race six, the Prix Boues Thermales – Grand Dax, starts at 1:07 PM. This Class 4 handicap over 2,300 metres has attracted eleven runners. Handicap conditions are designed to produce closely matched competition, making this one of the more evenly balanced races on the programme.

The penultimate contest, the Prix de la Source de Buglose, is scheduled for 1:42 PM. Another Class 4 handicap over 2,300 metres, it features a field of twelve runners and is expected to provide another closely fought middle-distance contest.

The meeting concludes at 2:17 PM with the Prix Alphonse XIII, also a Class 4 handicap over 2,300 metres. Twelve runners are set to line up in the finale, ensuring the day’s programme ends with another competitive race.

Dax Racecourse continues to play an important role in the French racing calendar by offering opportunities for both jump and flat performers.
