The 6th race of the Mysore Monsoon Races 2025 on Friday, 5 September, brought spectators to the edge of their seats as The Lavasa Plate, a Class II contest for horses rated 60 and above over 1400 metres, unfolded at 4:30 PM. In a razor-sharp display of determination, Crosswater (J: Antony Raj S., T: Arjun Mangalorkar) surged to victory in 1:23.891, racing in the silks of Rajagiri Rubber & Produce Co. Ltd., represented by Mr. Dilip Thomas.

Breaking smoothly from the gates, Crosswater settled mid-pack before unleashing a powerful run in the final 200 metres. With Antony Raj’s well-timed urging, the gelding found an extra gear, splitting rivals and stretching out in the final strides to edge past in a dramatic finish. Trainer Arjun Mangalorkar’s charge showed class and grit, rewarding his connections with a memorable triumph in this prestigious plate event.

Just a whisper behind, Don Carlos (J: P. Trevor, T: S. S. Attaollahi) fought valiantly, clocking 1:23.902 to secure second after being in contention throughout. Close on their heels, Mazal Tov (J: Akshay Kumar, T: Neil B. Devaney) stayed on gamely to grab third in 1:23.944, ensuring the top three finishers were separated by mere fractions of a second in one of the closest finishes of the day.

With The Lavasa Plate concluded in such pulsating fashion, anticipation now builds for the next test on the card, The Somanathpur Plate (Div I) at 5:00 PM, promising yet another gripping contest at Mysore.
