Cortado Great Tribute Plate RCTC Win Highlights Day Two-Year-Old Form
Cortado Great Tribute Plate RCTC performance impresses at RCTC Monsoon Meeting
Cortado Great Tribute Plate RCTC form was on full display in Race 2 of the RCTC Monsoon Meeting 2025, where the three-year-old colt outclassed rivals in a five-runner field. Ridden by jockey P Trevor and trained by Aashay Doctor, Cortado led from the front and completed the 1100-metre dash in a sharp 1:08.419.
The field had been reduced to five after the withdrawals of Global Fashion and Zalia. The conditions remained fair, and Cortado seized the opportunity to dictate early fractions and kick clear in the straight.
Midnight Star, under jockey Arul J H for trainer Neil Darashah, tried to rally late but could only finish second in 1:09.588. Astral Gold, ridden by A Ashhad Asbar and trained by Dr Anil Kumar, claimed third in 1:09.910 with a steady effort. Despite the small field, the race produced a clean and evenly run contest.
While Cortado dominated proceedings, Midnight Star showed promise and could come on for the run. Astral Gold also shaped with potential and is expected to benefit from further exposure on the turf.
Next on the card is The Pentagon Handicap at 3:00 PM — another 1100-metre test, this time for horses rated 21–46 and reserved for Indian jockeys.
