A 34-lot dispersal of Cornerstone Stud’s commercial breeding stock has emerged as one of the major features of the August (Early) Online Sale, with a close relation to Group 1 winner Home Affairs and shares in recent Group 1 heroine Fireball Miss among the standout offerings.
The South Australian nursery is parting with its entire commercial breeding portfolio, bringing broodmares, young racehorses, yearlings and weanlings together in a varied catalogue.
Inglis Digital August Early Sale is the focus of considerable attention as the Cornerstone draft brings several proven breeding families and young stock into the market.
Among the most notable lots is Jest Excel, a daughter of Exceed And Excel and the dam of Group 3-winning two-year-old Shiki. Her 2026 yearling also made a strong impression, selling for $380,000.
The Cornerstone offerings are being sold without reserve, apart from stallion shares in Nicconi, Fierce Impact and Rebel Dane.
The draft includes mares with links to Stakes winners, as well as those in foal to a number of prominent sires including Chaldean, Celestial Legend, Starlust and Storm Boy. Young horses by Bivouac, Chaldean, Pinatubo and Pierro add further variety to the catalogue.
Another eye-catching entry is Ballet’s Legacy, an unraced three-year-old daughter of I Am Invincible.
Ballet’s Legacy is a three-quarter sister to Home Affairs, the Group 1 winner who went on to become a Group 1-producing first-season sire. She is also a half sister to dual Group 1 winner and sire Russian Revolution and Group 3 winner Turbo Miss, giving the filly considerable depth on the page as a future broodmare.
Five five-per-cent shares in Fireball Miss are also included.
The Ciaron Maher-trained four-year-old mare arrives in the catalogue after winning the Group 1 Queensland Oaks at her latest start. She had previously captured the Group 2 The Roses, establishing herself as one of the more accomplished young mares in the offering.
Fireball Miss could be aimed at the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes during the spring, while a longer-term target is the Group 1 Caulfield Cup next year.
The wider August (Early) Online Sale features 412 entries, comprising 144 racehorses, including 69 fillies, along with 136 racehorse shares, 87 broodmares, 24 yearlings, 11 unraced horses, five stallion shares, four two-year-olds and one breeding right.
The catalogue gives buyers a broad cross-section of established bloodlines and younger stock, while the Cornerstone dispersal provides some of the sale’s strongest breeding-interest lots.
A representative from the bloodstock team will visit Cornerstone on Monday to inspect the offerings and assist with enquiries from interested parties.
