The curtain came down on a memorable edition of Royal Ascot 2025, with Coolmore, the Gosden stable, and jockey Ryan Moore emerging as the standout names of the meeting. It was a fiercely competitive week, but familiar faces ultimately claimed the top honours in the owner, trainer, and jockey categories.
Coolmore once again showcased their dominance, securing the title of leading owner for the third year in a row and sixth overall. They shared five victories with Wathnan Racing, but consistent placings gave them the edge. Their team had a particular impact in the juvenile ranks, with standout performances from Gstaad, True Love, and Charles Darwin in prestigious two-year-old contests. The Coolmore silks also triumphed in two major three-year-old races, with Garden Of Eden capturing the Ribblesdale Stakes and Trinity College prevailing in the Hampton Court Stakes under Paul Smith’s colours.
MV Magnier expressed his pride in the collective effort behind the scenes, praising the dedication of the Coolmore team and acknowledging the significance of racing in front of The King and Queen throughout the week.
Despite Coolmore’s success, the trainer’s title went to the formidable partnership of John and Thady Gosden. Matching Aidan O’Brien’s tally of five winners, the Gosdens clinched the award thanks to an impressive haul of runner-up finishes, highlighted by Spy Chief’s second place in the Jersey Stakes on the final day.
Among the Gosden-trained highlights, Field Of Gold dazzled in the St James’s Palace Stakes, while Ombudsman delivered a thrilling performance in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes. Trawlerman provided an emotional victory in the Gold Cup after finishing second last year, and Crimson Advocate added to her Royal Ascot legacy with another win in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes. French Master also made his mark with success in the Copper Horse Stakes.
John Gosden praised the hard work of their entire operation, describing the Royal Meeting as racing’s equivalent of the Olympics. He credited Thady’s influence and long-term involvement as essential to their success. Thady Gosden singled out Trawlerman’s Gold Cup redemption as one of the most satisfying moments of the week, alongside Field Of Gold’s ever-improving displays, which have fueled excitement for the future.
Jockey Ryan Moore once again demonstrated his remarkable consistency and skill, collecting the top rider award for a 12th time with seven wins across the five days. His partnership with Coolmore produced five victories, while his rides for Willie Mullins in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes and Queen Alexandra Stakes added further gloss to his tally.
Royal Ascot 2025 also saw an increase in attendance figures, a positive sign for the sport’s appeal. Over 71,000 spectators turned up on the final day, contributing to a total of nearly 287,000 across the five days — a healthy rise compared to the previous year. Ascot Racecourse CEO Felicity Barnard celebrated the success of the event, highlighting the efforts made to enhance the overall experience for attendees, whether they came for the racing, the entertainment, or the fashion.
With the 2025 edition complete, the focus already turns to next year, as the connections, competitors, and fans eagerly anticipate another chapter of drama, brilliance, and tradition at Royal Ascot.
