VENETIAN DREAM delivered a controlled performance to take the opener, finishing strongly to defeat THE SHEEP by 1¼ lengths. At 4:35 PM, RACE 2 – EMPEDOCLES was contested over 1100 metres for $1,700,000. THE MENTALIST asserted authority in the closing stages, edging clear to win by ¾ of a length, while CARLUCCI stayed on for second.
Middle-distance racing followed at 5:05 PM in RACE 3 – CORSO SEMPIONE, a 1500-metre handicap worth $1,275,000. SNOOKER proved superior through the final section, holding YUSUF safely as the pair drew clear of the remainder.
