Chelmsford City will outline a seven-race all-weather fixture on Friday, 2 January, with the Chelmsford City Race Cards 2 January outlining an afternoon programme that will combine sprint contests, staying handicaps, and two Mile Series qualifying races. The card will run from 12:42pm through to 3:42pm and will feature races across Classes 4 to 6.
The meeting will open with a six-furlong apprentice contest before moving through a balanced schedule that will place emphasis on speed, stamina, and positioning around the polytrack circuit. Prize money across the afternoon will range from £7,000 to £10,000.
The action will begin at 12:42pm with the CCR “Hands and Heels” Apprentice Handicap Stakes (Class 5), run over six furlongs for seven runners and worth £8,500. Charlie Mason, Em Four, Express Train, Nazron, and Distant Rumble are among the declared runners, with the race expected to favour those able to travel prominently from the outset.
At 1:12pm, the CCR Handicap Stakes (Class 5) will be contested over one mile and six furlongs. Eight runners will compete for £8,500, including Clansman, D Day Arvalenreeva, Spectacular Style, Forca Timao, and Gemmari. The longer distance will test stamina and consistency on the turning track.
The CCR Maiden Stakes (Class 4) at 1:42pm will see eight runners line up over five furlongs, with £10,000 on offer. Lady of Killarney, Thecoffeepoddotco, Chhota Saab, Cool Molly, and Curated will feature among the field in what is expected to be a sharp, speed-focused contest.
The first Chelmsford Mile Series Qualifying Handicap Stakes (Class 5) will be run at 2:12pm over seven furlongs. Nine runners are set to contest the £8,500 prize, including Dark Side Thunder, Riot, Chola Empire, Revolutionise, and Me Tarzan.
Between the two Mile Series races, the CCR Handicap Stakes (Class 6) at 2:42pm will be run over one mile for nine runners, with £7,000 available. Aneirin’s Sword, Thanh Nam, Urban Law, Flying Macs, and Three Socks On are among those set to compete.
At 3:12pm, a Class 6 division of the Mile Series qualifier will follow over one mile. Al Waqidi, Vizzavona Lady, Gladiadora, Rising Force, and Arthur Rose are among the nine runners declared for the £7,000 contest.
The meeting will conclude at 3:42pm with the CCR Handicap Stakes (Class 4) over one mile and two furlongs. Eight runners will contest the £10,000 race, including Epictetus, Midnight Rumble, Knockbrex, Sheriff’s Court, and Melek Alreeh.
