The afternoon fixture will feature contests for two-year-olds, sprinters, middle-distance performers and stayers, with prize money ranging from £7,000 to £13,000. Competitive fields across a variety of distances will ensure another busy day of British flat racing.
Opening the afternoon, THE ARMY BENEVOLENT EBF NOVICE STAKES (CLASS 3) (GBB RACE) will be run at 2:15pm over 7f 6y. The juvenile contest will offer £13,000 in prize money and will feature seven runners. Breaking The Habit, Darrington Golf, National Pride, Palace Legacy, Stormy Winter, Waakabb and A La Montagne will contest the opening race, which will provide an early opportunity for promising two-year-olds to enhance their records.
The second race on the programme will be THE HUGH JAMES CLASSIFIED STAKES (CLASS 6) at 2:45pm. The 5f 212y contest for horses aged three years and older will offer £7,650 in prize money. Captain Cess, Miss Rainbow, Barmyblade, Lucius Aurelius, Howzak and Call Glory are among the declared runners for the afternoon sprint.
The penultimate contest of the meeting will be THE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) at 4:15pm over 1m 4f 13y. Also worth £7,650, the race for horses aged three years and older will feature Brunello Breeze, On The Bubble, Halimede, Hansteen, Muhib, Project Kinsman and N’Ion. The middle-distance handicap will add further variety to the day’s programme.
Bringing the meeting to a close, THE RACING AGAIN 17TH AUGUST HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) will be staged at 4:45pm over 5f. The concluding sprint for horses aged three years and older will also carry a prize fund of £7,650. Without Flaw, Brain Freeze, Doralee, Havin A Flyer, Gwen Tennyson, Mimime and Dunnington Lad will be expected to contest the final race on the card.
