The first of the afternoon’s major handicaps came in the 3:30pm Lady Dacre Bell Handicap Stakes over seven furlongs and 173 yards. In a competitive Class 4 contest, Runswick (IRE) delivered a fine performance under Daniel Tudhope. Travelling comfortably throughout, Runswick moved into contention approaching the final furlong before producing a decisive burst of speed to secure victory. The success added another valuable handicap prize to the horse’s record and highlighted the effectiveness of Tudhope’s well-timed ride.
Attention then turned to the day’s highest-class race, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Eternal Stakes, a Listed contest run over six furlongs and 195 yards. The feature event attracted a talented field, and it was Ellusive Butterfly (IRE) who emerged on top under Clifford Lee. The winner displayed both class and determination, travelling smoothly before responding strongly to pressure in the closing stages. One of the oldest horse races in Britain, the contest once again lived up to its reputation for competitiveness. Priapos (IRE), ridden by Sam James, produced a memorable performance to land the historic prize. Positioned prominently throughout, Priapos showed admirable determination in the straight and held off rivals to etch his name into the long and distinguished history of the race.
The penultimate contest, the Stablemate by AGMA Cumberland Plate Handicap Stakes over one mile, three furlongs and 39 yards, saw Wine Dark Sea continue a productive campaign. Lewis Edmunds guided the winner with confidence, allowing the horse to settle before making a sustained challenge in the latter stages. The pair struck the front at a crucial stage and maintained their advantage to claim a well-deserved success in the staying handicap.
The meeting concluded with the Racing Staff Week Fillies’ Handicap Stakes over six furlongs and 195 yards. Who Wants Me (IRE), ridden by Andrew Mullen, ended the afternoon on a high note with a determined victory. The filly showed plenty of grit in the closing stages, responding gamely to her rider’s encouragement and holding on to secure the final race of the card.
