Australian Turf Club will usher a competitive six-race midweek programme at Canterbury Park on Wednesday, 27 May, featuring a mix of juvenile contests, age-restricted events and handicap races across distances ranging from 1100m to 1900m. The card will be highlighted by the Toyota Forklifts Handicap, while overall action will stretch across a well-balanced afternoon schedule under standard metropolitan racing conditions.

Kicking off the programme in early afternoon action, Race 1 – Exceedance @ Vinery Stud Handicap will take place at 1.25 PM over 1100m for two-year-old runners with a prize fund of $60,000. Celestial Charm, Explosive Express, Extremely Chic, Grey Star, Infinite Sky and Miss Scandal will line up in the field. The contest will offer an early test for juvenile performers over a sharp sprint trip.

Building early momentum on the card, Race 2 – Toyota Forklifts Handicap will be run at 2.00 PM over 1250m for two and three-year-old runners, carrying total prize money of $100,000. Snitzel Miss, Front Rank, Incremental, Royal Air Force, Artgirl and Escalera Al Cielo are expected to contest the race. With the highest prize money on the card, it will stand as the key attraction of the meeting.

Shifting into longer-distance territory, Race 3 – Asahi Super Dry Handicap will follow at 2.35 PM over 1900m for horses aged three years and above with $60,000 on offer. Allegro Miss, Midnight Luna, Velaris, The Iron Star, Noises and Ziggy Rose will take part. The longer distance will demand stamina and tactical positioning as runners step up in trip.

Continuing the mid-card action, Race 4 – TAB Handicap will be staged at 3.10 PM over 1250m for three-year-old runners, with prize money set at $60,000. Airworthy, Cheeky Smirk, Chix, Sapphire Rose, Jaegers and Willingham are expected to feature. The sprint contest will continue the mid-card intensity with a tightly matched field.

Approaching the closing stages of the meeting, Race 5 – Ranvet Handicap is scheduled for 3.45 PM over 1550m for horses aged three years and above, offering a purse of $60,000. Sosino, Hereward, Skycatcher, Peace Officer, Format and Louie’s Legacy are expected to compete. The middle-distance test will provide a different tactical challenge compared to earlier sprint races.

Wrapping up the six-race programme, Race 6 – The Agency Real Estate Handicap will be held at 4.20 PM over 1250m for four-year-olds and upwards, with prize money of $60,000. Metaphorically, The Extreme Cat, Roussillon, Tenderize, Xpresso and Barbray will complete the field. The closing race will bring the six-race Canterbury Park card to an end after a varied afternoon of competition.
