The Calcutta Races, Autumn Meeting (Fourth Day) on Friday, 7th November 2025, opened with a thrilling start as Princess Peach (J: Mukesh Kumar, T: P. Quinn) claimed top honours in the 1st Race – The Chios Handicap, a Class V contest for horses rated 1-26, run over 1100 metres at 1:45 PM. Racing in the silks of Mr Mohammed Shakeel, the filly stopped the clock at 1:06.945, showcasing both pace and composure to secure a commanding win and set the tone for the afternoon.

Breaking alertly from the gates, Princess Peach was quickly in contention, tracking the early leaders before asserting control approaching the final furlong. Mukesh Kumar timed his move to perfection, pushing the filly clear with a well-judged finish that left her rivals chasing shadows. Trainer P. Quinn’s preparation was evident as the winner maintained a fluent stride throughout, never looking in danger once she took charge.

Diamond Gold (J: Imran Chisty, T: Rutherford Alford) gave a spirited chase to finish second, stopping the clock at 1:07.729, while Cashaban (J: Nikhil Naidu, T: Sabeel Shariff) ran on gamely to secure third in 1:07.911. The top three were separated by narrow margins, adding a touch of intensity to an otherwise polished victory for the winner.

With The Chios Handicap concluded in fine style, all eyes now turn to the upcoming Captain Morgan Handicap at 2:15 PM, promising another exciting chapter in Calcutta’s Autumn Meeting.
